Description: Roana tends to a sick J'klin
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 1, day 12 of Turn 6

Roana hadn't seen J'klin all day, despite his recent tendency of figuring
out her schedule and stopping by to say hello to her at random moments. So,
she had tracked him down, surprised to find him in the dining cavern so late
in the evening, alone. Sneaking up behind him, she snaked her arm over his
shoulder to grab his cup and sniff at the contents, pleased to find it was
nothing but klah.

"Okay, what's going on here?" She asked, concerned as she slipped into the
seat next to him. "Are you alright?"

"I'm not feeling so well," he confessed. "I thought about stopping by
earlier, but I didn't want you seeing me all sickly." As if prompted by his
words, he coughed, then grabbed his chest. "Uhg, I've been coughing so much
my chest is killing me."

"And being male, you didn't do the sensible thing and go see a healer, did
you?" Roana lifted an eyebrow, her expression knowing. "I bet you didn't
think to lay down and rest at some point today, either."

J'klin shook his head, a weak but guilty smile curling his lips. "I had
drills this morning, and then I took the second half of a wingmate's sweep
schedule so he would take mine next rest day," he explained. "And what would
a healer do, other than tell me to eat soup and drink a lot?" He gestured
down to his soup. "I fear if I eat too much more, I'll turn into Wherry
Stew!"

Roana pushed her curls back out of her face and shook her head. "Probably,
but they also have some very good teas and syrups to help that cough." She
leaned up and set her chin on his shoulder, hazel eyes wide and puppyish.
"Please? If you go see a healer, you can stay with me and be coddled
tonight."

"Oooh... I could go for that deal," J'klin said. "So long as coddling
includes snuggling," he nodded decisively. He downed the rest of his klah
quickly, and stood up slowly, blinking a bit as the movement caused him to
get lightheaded. "Lead the way, milady!"

Pleased, Roana led the way to the infirmary where a brusque Journeyman
looked the brownrider over, said there was a cough going around, and gave
him a dose of a thick greenish syrup. After handing over a vial with several
more doses, he sent them on their way. "See, that wasn't so bad, was it?"
the greenrider asked quietly.

"No, it was a lot better than the last time I was here," J'klin said. He
didn't add that the last time he was there was for a stomach bug, and that
he'd tried to flirt with a cute journeywoman while she was assisting him.
This was ultimately unsuccessful when he'd accidentally thrown up on her.

"Good," Roana nodded and curled her arm around his waist, slowly navigating
the weyrbowl and steps until they reached her ledge. "Pardon the mess, I
need to straighten things up a bit, but there should be room for you on the
couch. Why don't you lay down while I take care of that?"

"Ahh.... lay down..." J'klin mumbled weakly before faceplanting on the
couch. After a few moments, he managed to pull his long legs up onto the
couch as well, and then fumbled to kick off his boots. "Thmmmrlf frrm
tamfrrm ommmmee," came his distorted voice from the couch cushion a moment
later.

The greenrider's head jerked up from where she'd leaned down to pick up an
armful of leather straps from her latest repair to Phiralith's harness and a
random shoe that she'd left there. "What was that, darling?"

J'klin turned his head to the side, freeing up his mouth. "Thank you for
taking care of me," he said, slightly less muffled this time. "I really
appreciate it."

Roana shook her head, "As if I'd do anything else. Now shhh, just relax."
Fighting a smile, she finished picking up and returned to the couch,
settling on the small sliver of cushion left next to him and setting a
gentle hand on his shoulder. "Is that syrup working yet?"

"Mmhmm," he responded, a silly smile crossing his face. "I feel floaty. It's
nice. It made the hurty go away. Wow, I should go to the healer's more
often, this stuff is pretty great. Am I rambling? I think I might be
rambling."

"Well, why don't we get you up and you can ramble yourself into the other
room and into bed? I just changed the sheets out and you'll be more
comfortable," she said. "And there'll be enough room for me to lay down with
you, too."

"When you put it that way, that sounds perfect. Are you sure you're not
worried I might make you sick?" J'klin asked, concerned. Still, he didn't
hesitate in forcing himself to his feet and heading into the bedroom.
"Although I'd nurse you if you got sick. Mmhmm."

Laughing, Roana followed him in, having already left the blankets pulled
back for him. "You'd make a terrible nurse, J'klin. You have no patience at
all." There was the possibility that she'd catch whatever he had, but she
was usually healthy and able to fight off the various colds and such that
came around so she wasn't worried much.

J'klin said himself into Roana's bed with a slight bit more dignity than he
had used while face planting into the couch. he rolled over to face Roana,
smiling up at her. "You know, you have the cutest little nose..." he said,
reaching out with one hand to poke it gently.

The nose in question wrinkled and the greenrider shook her head, her hand
coming up to cover it. "Leave my oddly tilted nose out of it, sir," she said
grumpily, waiting until he was settled before laying down on her stomach
atop the blankets. "You need to rest."

J'klin pouted for a moment, before sighing, and rolling over. "Yes ma'am,"
he said with a mock dramatic sigh. "Will you sing me to sleep?" He asked,
his voice plaintive and whiny like a child's. "I'd really like it a lot..."

"Alright, alright," Roana sighed and moved to curl up against his back, her
chin propped on his shoulder. She couldn't really sing, but resorted to a
sort of tuneless humming, soft against J'klin's ear. "Go to sleep, darling.
Rest," she murmured, settling her arm over his waist and hugging him close.
It was hard for her to see him not feeling well, being so used to him being
up and about and active.

A smiled crossed J'klin's face as Roana began to hum to him, and it wasn't
long before his eyelids became droopy, and he was snoring softly.

She stayed there with him for a bit, enjoying the quiet, comfortable moment,
before pulling away and going back to her straightening with a soft smile on
her face. They might not have made anything official to date, but she couldn't
deny that her feelings for the brownrider were stronger than ever. Time
would tell where they'd end up.
