Yawning widely, O'ryn leaned against Lyriath, letting the green's warm bulk hold him up until he managed to wake up the rest of the way. He hadn't slept much the night before, still adjusting to having a weyr to himself now that he was a Senior Weyrling. The silence felt strange to him after growing up with a family, then being in Beastcraft and Candidate barracks.

He caught sight of a familiar face and called out quietly, "G'morning, G'wen."

"Morning O'ryn!" the smaller greenrider said with considerably more cheer. He was just walking back to the barracks after having cut up a herdbeast for Neath. "Morning Lyriath!" She was a lovely green, O'ryn's lifemate. Her colour was as striking as his Neath's and Demalia's Tapheth.

It was a bright morning, beautiful in the way a dry day was after a week of rain. Neath fairly bounced alongside her lifemate, just as happy to see the end of slogging through the bad weather to get to her food and baths. Like, what was the point in going to the bathing pools when she got just as wet walking back to her wallow? G'wen grinned at her thoughts, musing to himself that she was showing herself to have a longer than normal memory for a dragon.

"Well, Neath is awfully perky this morning," the other greenrider commented. "How are you two doing? I feel like I hardly see the lot of you since they shoved us senior weyrlings out into our own weyrs." Lyriath draped her head over his shoulder, peering curiously at the younger rider, and O'ryn's hand came up automatically to rub at her chin.

"Must be nice though?" the younger boy cheerped up. "And now that you're not banned from eyeing someone up, you'll have a use for it right?" He grinned at the other boy, before adding, "we're fine. Well, Neath decided to pick a fight with Eillispeth but other than that, we're good."

O'ryn chuckled and shook his head, "I've got another month before they start pushing us to 'get some experience'. Trust me, I can't wait. After being exhausted all the time wore off, celibacy became the worst thing about being in training." He blinked at the last comment, "She did? Oh, Faranth," the greenrider laughed. "How'd that go?"

"Hmm..luckily E'naer's back was turned so he didn't catch much of it. But yeah, here's hoping she doesn't try_that_stunt again." He gave his green an affectionate pat on the neck. Thinking back to what O'ryn had first said, he asked, "so any boys in line for your affections in a month's time?"

"Maybe a few," O'ryn's lips twitched into a small smile. "But that doesn't mean I have a chance with them... and the one I'd be pretty sure of is... unavailable right now." Of course, he meant G'wen's classmate J'nor, but as a Junior Weyrling, he was firmly off limits.

"Oh? He got a weyrmate or something?"

"Or something. Worst comes to worst, I know some other blue and greenriders who are unattached. I'll quietly ask around and see who's available," the greenrider said quietly, even though that wasn't what he really wanted. "So other than Neath giving you a hard time, how is training going? Starting to adjust to the schedule?"

"Yeah, it's no problem." Unlike a lot of the fellow Weyrlings, G'wen was finding the schedule fairly easy. "After all that being harrassed by those bully Candidates from the Holds, being a Weyrling is as easy as piss. And cleaning one Neath is way easier than the loads and loads of other people's dragons, like I used to do." Yes, Weyrling life was easy, and much more interesting than being a drudge in the kitchens or a put-upon Candidate.

O'ryn laughed and shook his head, clapping the other boy on the shoulder. "Good for you. I'm glad there's someone around here who isn't practically the walking dead after a day in the Weyrlingmaster's hands. Faranth knows when I see J'nor he's usually half-dead on his feet."

"Oh, so you see J'nor some?" G'wen had caught the little glint in O'ryn's eye when he mentioned the tall Weyrling's name. "He was talking about his da a while back and wow, did it make me_so_glad to be Weyr-born."

The taller greenrider nodded, trying to make it casual. "Yeah, we have dinner together now and then," he said dismissively, nevermind that he was skirting the truth. He and the bluerider spent most evenings together with the greenrider very carefully avoiding any sort of flirtation or impropriety. "His family is something else. I've never realized just how lucky I was with mine until recently."

G'wen chortled. "Dinner...now and again? You like him or something?" O'ryn was so shy, it would be fun to tease him out of his shell a bit. The younger boy figured the Senior Weyrling was the only one in the Weyr that could make him look outgoing, by comparison.

Scorch it, he'd said too much! O'ryn sighed, "Yeah, I guess you can say that." It was difficult, having a crush on someone virtually untouchable.

"So..go on! Does he know? What have you said together? Come on, details!"

"I don't know, we've never really discussed it. We're getting to know each other," O'ryn said. "I'm pretty sure he's interested, there was a mild flirtation the evening we met, but I know I'm being careful and I think he is too. We'll see what happens down the line, but I'm not counting on anything."

"Well, good luck with him. When he was a Candidate, he used to go with about any female that would have him. It's always 'interesting' when those Hold boys like him find their lifemates to be blue or green." J'nor was a nice enough guy. G'wen hoped that maybe O'ryn would help him in a healthy way, and he in turn could get the greenrider to not be quite so shy.

Neath reached out from over G'wen's shoulder to nuzzle Lyriath. }:So, will you Rise soon then?:{

}: Maybe, :{ Lyriath acknowledged. }: I do not feel differently yet. The weyrlingmaster says we will know a couple days beforehand. :{

O'ryn caught that exchange and shook his head. "We think she probably has another month or so before she rises, Neath," he answered the smaller green's question.

"You nervous about that?" G'wen had caught the gist of the conversation between the two greens. Nodding to Neath, he added, "she's a bit fascinated with the whole thing, sorry. I'm dreading it, to be honest." He sighed and gave Neath a small pat on the chin.

"Not so much," the older boy shook his head, "Although I might be if I still haven't been with anyone by the time it happens. I'm not a virgin by any means, but it has definitely been awhile."

"Yeah...maybe I just need to get a bit more 'experience.' I've only been with one guy and he's so gentle, I'm sure, compared to some bronze rider that might catch this girl." He gave Neath another pat on the chin, hoping to Faranth that she would develop a healthy interest in blues rather than just bronzes soon. Sighing nervously at just the thought of it all, he gave O'ryn a half hearted smile.

O'ryn shook his head and curled an arm around the smaller boy's shoulders to give him a quick, reassuring squeeze. "I wouldn't worry too much about it yet. You and Neath both have some growing up to do before you get to that point."

"Tell her that." He pointed to Neath, who was watching a group of bronzes.

The taller boy shook his head, "No thanks, I can only imagine what she'd say if I tried." He glanced over toward the barracks and saw the majority of his own weyrling class assembled. "I think I'd better get over there before the Weyrlingmaster calls me out. I'll catch you later, alright?"

"Yeah, I need to get to class too. Want me to tell J'nor you said 'hi'?" He couldn't resist a last tease to his friend.

The older boy's cheeks went faintly pink at the suggestion. "Ahhh, no, that's okay. I'll talk to him - and you - later."
