Tavia

Tavia

Tavia was walking through the corridor back to her quarters when she
saw a familiar figure coming toward her. "Sh'dori," she said with a
smile. "Where are you off to?"

"Hello Tavia. To the dining hall mostly," Sh'dori greeted with a
friendly smile.

"Hmmm" she said "I was going back to my room to eat but..." She held
up a small package. "I wouldn't mind some company."

"I love being a company," Sh'dori replied with invitating smile and gestures.

She smiled and led him back to her weyr. Once they were there she went
to a cupboard and asked "wine or whisky? Sorry that's all I've got
besides the juice."

"Wine will do just fine thank's. Time isn't the right for whisky,"
Sh'dori replied and sat down comfortably. "So, how have you been
Tavia?"

"Tired, a little stressed, but other than that I'm just fine." She
opened the bottle and poured him a glass then took up her own full of
juice. Water, klah, tea, and juice was about all she was drinking
these days.

Sh'dori noted her selection of a drink, but didn't comment on it. It
was none of his business, besides he didn't know her that well to know
what she usually drank.

"The Queen's wing has been in tough spot," he said emphatically. "You
getting along all right with Janani?"

"Yes actually," she smiled "I think you'll like her. She seems
competent and willing to work hard." Her face clouded a little. "We'll
all miss Traelyn." She shook her head a little.

"I've yet to meet the Lady," Sh'dori said. "Yes, we do miss her. She
was a good Weyrwoman," Sh'dori answered to her later statement.

"Yes she was" Tavia answered simply. She was still as mystified as the
rest by the events that had led to the Werywoman's disappearance yet
she couldn't lie to herself. It made her conversation much easier to
have with Janani than with a woman who had once been in love with the
father of her baby. Her hand went involuntarily to her abdomen.

"I know the news will be out soon" she said with a small smile. "But I
think you should know... I'm pregnant."

"Hey! Congratulations!" Sh'dori said. He leaned forward eagerly: "Is
she or he mine?"
He had after all reason to presume he might be the father. He came
from profilic bloodline.

She chuckled for the eagerness with which he'd received the news.
"Sadly no." she said with a tilt of her head. "Tho I must say it might
have made my life a little less complicated if it were." Tavia liked
Sh'dori, he was good company when he was with you he was fully present
in the moment and not off somewhere dreaming of others or his duties.

"Aw," Sh'dori was bit disappointed. "Are you sure? I'm starting to
worry, I haven't sired a child for few Turns now."

Tavia made a little bit of a face. "No, I'm sorry Sh'dori" she smiled
at him "I am sure, though I would certainly have been happy if it had
been yours."

"Well, I happen to have a lot experience of pregnant women, so if you
need a supportive friend, a shoulder to cry on or a chest to pound,
I'm here," Sh'dori offered and lifted his glass for her. He did not
ask who the father was. She would tell him or she would not.

She smiled genuinely happy for his offer. "Thank you." she said "He's
from Dragonsfall, so I doubt he'll be around all that much." She
looked at her hands suddenly feeling a little weepy. "This is my first
so it's pretty much a mystery to me." She looked back up at him again.
"I need all the friends I can get."

Sh'dori patted her comfortingly. "We all need friends."

"Yes we do," she said and shifted from the chair to his knee. "Thank
you" she said and hugged him.

"It's a pleasure. And I will be uncle Sh'dori for the baby, agreed?"
Sh'dori grinned and hugged her back.

Tavia grinned happier than she could have predicted at his simple
offer. "Agreed, Uncle Sh'dori!" she said planting a giant kiss on his
lips.
