Characters: A'shel, Im're
Description: After a skittish start, Im're and Angshel warm up to one another
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 13, day 9 of Turn 5

The drill had left Im're swimming in his sweat, so he decided to change clothes and take a quick bath before lunch. If he didn't, he would be eating alone and with respectable distance from everyone else! He was wearing only a towel wrapped around his waist and was carrying his dirty flight-hides with straight arm's length when he entered his weyr. He hoped Gormth wouldn't complain him airing them on his ledge. He was not expecting anybody to be there. Of course he knew that somebody cleaned his weyr when he was on drills, but he never happened to be around when it was happening. "Erh, hi," Im're greeted and blushed. He felt like he was intruding even if it was _his_ weyr.

Angshel about lept out of his skin when he heard the man's voice. Spinning on his heals, he visibly blanched when he saw that the man was mostly naked. Training his eyes to the floor, he mumbled, "I'm sorry sir, I should have finished quicker." He flinched when he said that, waiting for the blow that surely had to be coming for seeing the man in this state.

"No, not at all, I'm the one who came in early and disturbed your work," Im're said hastily. "I just quickly get some clean clothes," he gestured vaguedly towards his clothes press. **Shards, he's a skittish one!**

Still flinching, the younger boy stuttered, "o-okay." He stood still, eyes still on the floor, wondering what he should do now. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw a flash of blue that would be the man's dragon settling into his wallow.

Im're went to pull a fresh tunic on. He wasn't comfortable without clothes on around strangers either. Gormth stuck his head inside to see who was his rider referring to. He eyed the drudge curiously.

When Angshel saw the blue, he stepped over to him. Despite the size, a dragon, to him, was indefinitely safer to be around than a half naked man. Shyly he lifted a hand to touch Gormth.

}: I like him. He's not skittish towards me, :{ Gormth almost purred.

**Good for you.** "He likes you," He said out loud for the drudge boy. Maybe that would ease him. Im're was friendly and good-hearted person and didn't understand when people seemed to be afraid of him.

"I like him too. He's beautiful." When he turned back to Im're, he was relieved to see the man was now dressed. He made a mental note to himself to clean faster when he was in the weyrs. Sighing, he wondered when this terrible fear of strange men would go away. At least this had been a blue rider and not a brown or bronze.

Gormth let out a deep, satisfied growl. "He says thank you," Im're interpreted.

Angshel smiled shyly at that. "I should get back to work. Would you want me to come back and finish your weyr? I can always do the one beside it, if you want to be alone."

"Don't bother just because of me. I'm on my way to eat, I won't stay here long," Im're answered.

"Okay." Even though he should have gone back to cleaning, he lingered near the blue. They were so beautiful, blue dragons. All the dragons were beautiful, but the blues were the most beautiful of all. At least to Angshel they were.

Gormth pushed his nose closer to the drudge, obviously begging for a scratch.

"Go ahead and scratch him or he'll never leave you alone," Im're encourage him.

Grinning in joy, the boy did just that. Glancing to the rider, he said, "I wouldn't mind him not leaving me alone at all." He could have happily stayed here the rest of the day, with the blue. Understanding what riding a blue or a green meant, the boy did start to relax with Im're, knowing he was like him in_that_aspect. And too, this rider didn't look all that much older than himself, on closer inspection.

"He's very friendly and curious like a small child," Im're said with a fond tone. He slipped past them, careful of not brushing against Angshel and went to spread his flight gear to dry on the ledge.

"Yes, he is," Angshel murmured. He noticed Im're being careful not to touch him, a gesture he was grateful for. It still did amaze him how much more gentle and kind the Weyr-folk seemed to be. He glanced at the rider, as he spread his gear outside. The boy was careful not to wrinkle his nose when a whiff of stale sweat drifted back into the weyr.

** I need a ride to dining cavern or are you going to make me walk?** Im're asked Gormth.

}: Walking doesn't damage you. I really like him, :{ the blue replied.

"Sir? Would you like me to take your clothes down to be washed?" Angshel was aware that his job wasn't to pet the dragon, as much as he wanted to, but to do his work. And part of his work was to take the washing down to the lower caverns.

"Could you? That would be very kind of you, thank you" Im're answered. He still wasn't used to have people do things for him.

"No problem," the boy answered, stepping around Im're and collecting the clothes before he could protest. "Doing this is easier than the stuff I used to have to do."

"That's fine then," Im're flashed a smile. "What's your name?" he asked.

"I'm Angshel," the boy answered. "I'm new here."

"I'm Im're and the big blue kitten is Gormth." Indeed, Gormth was purring like over-sized feline.

"Nice to meet you both." Angshel smiled at both of them and gave Gormth another pat.

"It was nice to meet you too," Im're smiled. "But now I have to hurry. See you around!"

The boy lifted an arm to wave them off before turning back to his work, glad that this encounter had turned out differently than he had feared at first.
