Orlaith was still as Rhosyn walked around her, checking the straps that would keep her from falling to her death. The leather was well-cared for and all the buckles were tight. satisfied, the small woman pulled her flamethrower from its holster on her back and she tested it, seeing the gout of flame go through the air. Her tank was full of fuel. Orlaith rumbled at the sight, her heavy body rippling with anticipation.

Rhosyn closed up her jacket, then settled her helmet on her head. Ready for battle, she put her flamethrower back into its place. Her eyes swept the sky. It wasn't crazy hot, thank Faranth. Putting her goggles on so that the sunlight would reflect off of them, she began the task of mounting her dragon.

**This will go fine. We've done it so many times. It will be a typical fall**
}:We will fly well. You will flame well. No threads will get through us:{

Rider's and dragon's thoughts seemed to echo each other as they repeated their mantra. Rhosyn reached the saddle and checked that she had water in her harness bag just in case. Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes and looked through Orlaith's just for a few moments. The Weyr was laid out before her. She could sense the other dragons and everything getting ready. The enemy was coming. **We will meet the thread and flame it out of the sky**

Orlaith released a breath at the same Rhosyn exhaled. With her rider firmly in place, she made the short glide from her ledge down to the Bowl, where the rest of their Wing was gathering.

Rhosyn relayed orders to Lenala and once everyone was on the same page, she looked for K'sedel. }:Nikornath is there:{ Orlaith directed her eyes to where the bronze rested near the Star Stones. }:We are ready:{ the gold reported.
~*~
Thread was falling and the upper wings were moving straight on, flaming as they went. The Queens' Wing was underneath them, spread out so they could cover more area and prevent the dragons being injured from a flamethrower's incorrect aim. **There's one!**

Orlaith's big head whirled around as she headed for it. The gold didn't get too close, both out of a sense of self preservation, but also knowing the range of Rhosyn's flamethrower. }:We have it:{ she told the others, while keeping their positions in mind.

She took aim and pulled the trigger as Orlaith got in range. **Steady** Then, the flame appeared and the thread turned to char. Smiling, Rhosyn released the trigger and kept looking, scanning the skies as they kept an ear open for orders from the other Wingleaders. If a dragon fell, they could catch. She saw Vilarth manage a clump. }:Good catch!:{

The golds had the staying power so Rhosyn settled in for the long haul. She hoped that the ones who went between had come back out of it somewhere. The goldrider couldn't concentrate on that, though. As their Weyrleader kept the wings organized and fighting, their Weyrwoman gave them a reason not to let the threads get through.
~*~
Everyone landed in the Bowl at the end. As the injuries were tallied up, Rhosyn pulled off her goggles, lifted off her helmet, and breathed into the sky. Her face was black from ash. Shrugging out of her jacket, she dismounted and handed her gear to a waiting candidate. She took Orlaith's harness off, handing it to another waiting candidate. Her gold ambled off to rest while she waited for a bath.

Rhosyn had to see about the injuries first before she could eat and see to her queen's bath. **Please don't let there be many**

}:Three are gone:{ Orlaith keened for them.
**May they rest now** came Rhosyn's thought as she paused for a moment. Then, she headed to the healer in charge to get a status report.
