Description: M'galec checks Im're foot injury.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 9, day 23 of Turn 5
It felt rather odd to Im're to have an appointment with M'galac as a
healer instead of as Weyrlingmaster's Second. This was the final check
up for his injured foot. It had healed over nicely, in Im're's opinion.
He sat out side the infirmary and examined the foot in question. It had
a roundish scar in the middle.
"So, I am here to inspect your... foot," M'galec looked up from the
chart to see the young man sitting there. Perhaps he should have
inspected the name as well as the symptoms. "Ah, Im're. Nice to see
you."
"You too, sir," Im're replied politely. "It's wholly healed," he
continued, expecting this to be just a routine.
"I am sure it is," M'galec nodded, humoring him though he would be the
final judge of that.
Im're just sat and wondered what now.
"If you would move to the examining table, please, and remove your
boot," the bronzerider nodded to the cot next to him.
"Right," Im're said and jumped up to obey. He walked without limp and
kicked off his boots.
M'galec pulled his chair close to the foot of the cot so he could get a
better look at it. "Now, remind me how this happened again?"
"Gormth stepped on my bare foot and his claw sank in a bit," Im're
replied.
"Ah, yes, that was it." M'galec remembered the incident. Not the first
weyrling to have that happen, and most likely not the last. "And does
it still have pain, either when you walk or move the foot?"
"No," the blue weyrling replied.
There was still a red mark, but there would probably always be a scar.
It had been a rather deep wound. M'galec lifted his foot in his hand
and began bending the toes back. "Tell me if anything hurts."
"It doesn't actually hurt but it's kind of like if skin is too tight
when you do that," Im're said after the middle toe had been bent.
"That is to be expected. The skin is still healing," the bronzerider
nodded. He then pushed all the toes back at once to make sure the
movements of the bones were not in any way impeded. "How about that?"
Im're just shook his head to indicate it didn't hurt.
M'galec then balled the toes under. When that also didn't seem to cause
discomfort he gently began pushing the bones around the scar tissue.
"Well, I have to say, Im're, it seems luck was on your side. There are
a lot of bones in your foot, but it seems none of them are the worse for
it."
"I thank Faranth for it. My first ever injury as a dragonrider," the boy
replied, looking the injury.
M'galec glanced up at him, not quite amused. "I do not think this is
the kind of injury you will want to be bragging out, Im're. As I
recall, you were not paying attention to your surroundings. Whether on
the ground or in the air fighting Thread, neither is cause for pride."
"Yes, sir," **Spoilsports.** The Weyrlingmaster's Second obviously had
no sense of humour at all.
"Well, I think healers have done as much as we can for you. If you do
develop any pain in that area, make sure to bring it to our attention.
Any questions?"
"No, sir. I'm fine," Im're replied and hopped up back to his feet. The
sooner he could get out of the infirmary, the better.
"Right. On your way, then," the bronzerider nodded. He had plenty of
other patients to attend to.
