"Oh good, you're here!" Meledei appeared from the bedroom just as F'gol stepped through the curtain from the ledge. She stood there, clutching her purple dress to her. It was the same dress she had worn to the hatching feast when they had met. It was loose and it was obvious Meledei wasn't quite ready. Her hair was braided and twisted on top of her head, her feet were covered in black boots that looked new, and while she had slipped into the dress, she had not fastened it. The young woman smiled as she admired F'gol in his Gather finery. "I need some help."
"You know, I usually prefer to get you _out_ of these." F'gol replied with a smirk as he obliged the girl. "You do look lovely with it on though."
"I'll be more than happy to let you get me out of this after the Gather." Meledei promised as she turned around. "Tighter, if you make it too loose it will fall off and that would be quite embarrassing."
F'gol raised an eyebrow. "For who? I'm sure all the fellows would enjoy the show."
"You want me to give them a show, hm?" Of course, Meledei would be covered up while she was outside, but once inside..."I thought I was a private show."
He pulled her to him and kissed her soundly. "I said they'd enjoy it, not that I wouldn't kill them all after. You're mine."
"
"Am I?" Meledei's smile softened and she trailed the back of her fingers along the side of his face. "Does that mean I get to keep you?"
"I'm not going anywhere." he assured her.
"Good...except right now you are. You're going to help me into my winter gear and then you're going to head with me to a certain Gather." Meledei swiped her jacket from where it lay across the couch. It was her formal riding jacket, the one she would wear on trips and visits rather than during Threadfall. "Would you grab my gloves? They're on my dresser near the bed."
F'gol got them quickly and passed them over. "You're not planning on doing much outside are you? You wouldn't want to get overheated when we're outside."
"I have a feeling I'm not going to get cold. Another rider told me it gets awfully cold there." Meledei slipped her hands inside her gloves. "Aren't most of the activities outside? I want to try and skate again."
"Again?" F'gol asked, surprised. He'd never attempted sliding across the ice on thin blades, but he knew of the activity. "You can do it, I'll just watch."
"No, you have to come with me!" Meledei insisted with a wide grin. "I need something to cushion me when I fall!"
F'gol grunted, "In that case, definitely no. I'll be inside in the warm of the Hold sampling Gather food."
"But what about the scavenger hunt?" Meledei's voice dripped into a whine. "Aren't you going to do that?"
"Scavenger hunt?" F'gol asked, confused. He'd only gone to a few Gathers, and of those, he'd mostly been there in the capacity of harper apprentice. All these things she was suggesting was out of his element.
"Oh come _on_ I mentioned it a sevenday or so ago." F'gol had been distracted, but surely he had heard her. "They're doing a scavenger hunt at the Hold and awarding prizes!"
F'gol gave in, though he didn't remember her mentioning anything of the sort. "Fine, if it doesn't involve skating then I'll do it with you."
"Good. Z'ku's going to be a part of our team." Meledei kissed F'gol upon his cheek and turned toward the ledge. "Race you to the Hold?"
His lip curled and a small growl escaped. Great. Z'ku. Couldn't that bronzerider leave Meledei alone? It was pathetically obvious that he was one of those bronze leeches that tried to win favor with the goldriders so that they could have the edge in a mating flight. Maybe Z'ku would get lost in the hunt and freeze to death in a snow drift. That might make the hunt worth it. Perversely cheered, F'gol followed Meledei.
