"And that's how you do it!" J'klin said in a slurred and overly loud voice to the group seated around him. He refilled his cup with wine before offering to top off the cup of the blond girl's next to him.
**What was her name again?** he was sure he knew it for she had been drinking with him before, but it wouldn't come to him, and he didn't really care as long as she kept drinking and laughing at his tales.

"Sounds interesting," said Hanni. "Know any more stories like that?"

"Hundreds!" he boasted before taking his cup for another drink. He leaned back too far and fell out off his seat, tipping the near full cup of wine all over his face and shirt. "Whoops!"

"J'klin!" Hanni looked a little surprised. "Maybe you should go change out of that shirt!"

He looked up at her from where he still lay on the ground and laughed.
She knew his name, why couldn't he remember hers? He pulled himself up, standing wobbly next to the table. In what he thought was a sly tone he asked, "Care to help me out of it?"

"Maybe you need that help." J'klin looked drunk. If anything, he'd be out of that shirt, think he could do anything, but pass out instead.
She suspected he would have a headache to beat all headaches in the morning.

**************

"Welcome to my humble weyr." J'klin said as he closed the door once they were inside. "Care for a drink?" he asked as he walked to the table in front of his couch that had a half empty bottle of wine on it.

"Maybe you've had too much," said Hanni, looking around her.

J'klin frowned, looking down at the bottle on the table. "Well, maybe you're right," he said flopping onto the couch, "weren't you going to help me out of my shirt anyways?" He patted his lap expectantly as she approached him, and gave her his most winning smile.

Warily she approached, it couldn't hurt to help him, could it? She sat next to him in the end, reaching over to start unfastening things he seemed too inebriated to manage himself.

**What was her name?** he wondered again as he watched her. **Is she in my wing?** that seemed right but he couldn't think of any more details so gave up again. "There, that's better. No more shirt." he teased pulling his top over his head and tossing it on the floor, "Now that I'm dry, why don't you get that beautiful body of yours over here where I can admire it up close."

"Tempting, very tempting," she said. Maybe he was only acting drunk.

"Tempting? I'll show you tempting!" He leaned over to her pressing his lips to hers and cupping her face with his hands. When she didn't pull away, he took that as a good sign and continued to kiss her as he dropped one of his hands down to trace first her neck and then across her tunic to caress her breast before pulling away completely.

The touch felt so good, thought Hanni as she responded. His kiss tasted of alcohol, but he wasn't kissing her like a drunken man. He was kissing her like he meant it.

Something in the back of his mind told him he shouldn't be doing this, that he couldn't even remember the girls name, so why was he kissing her; but he blocked it out thinking that she would make him feel better and he _needed_ to feel better. J'klin kissed her again, this time grabbing her waist and pulling her onto him.

Definitely not drunk, was her last coherent thought as she let herself fall into the sensations J'klin was rousing in her body. Right now, she wanted him, drunk or not.

He pulled her tunic off of her and tossed it on the floor besides his own. He let his hands explore her body, relishing the response she was giving to him. He picked her up, pressing her chest against his, as he carried her to his bed.

Sometime later, Hanni awoke. It had been a pleasant interlude, she thought, maybe even worth repeating, if he were up to it. J'klin watched her as she stretched and looked over at him. He smiled at her, but inside he felt anything but happy. He hadn't been thinking straight that night and he knew he had just used her to try and lessen his pain. Only it hadn't worked, the ache in his heart was still there, the void that Arilanna had left still threatened to consume him, and nothing not an endless supply of wine or a warm body in his bed could fill it. "Good morning, Hanni."
