"Solieira," Labarr poked his head into the Headwoman's office. "I got a message that you wanted to speak to me?"
Sol raised her eyebrows at Labarr and waved him into her office. "I most certainly do. Sit down, young man."
Normally kind eyes were slightly narrowed; she wasn't sure to laugh or scold. She held up 4 fingers as he sat down. "How many fingers am I holding up, Labarr?"
"I'm not drunk I swear!" Labarr said raising his hand up in innocence as he grinned.
"I'm starting to think you drink too much, you charming lout! Four is the number of women that have now claimed you as a possible father of their latest babes. Four, including Nirlie, who came to see me just this morning saying she was with child and would soon need a lighter schedule." She shook her head, finally giving into a moment of laughter. "I am going to start giving _you_ all their duties if you keep going through my girls this way."
Nirlie... a cheery woman with tight brown curls came to mind and Labarr grinned. "Solieira, you can't blame me for being irresistible, and you only said _possible_ right? I could be completely childless for all we really know. Maybe you should talk to these women about being so friendly."
Sol rolled her eyes skyward. "Faranth save me from charming AND friendly. Somehow I doubt someone as _charming_ as you, Labarr, is childless at this point. Besides, I have talked to the girls. They aren't working their way through the Candidate ranks quite as fast as you are working your way through the Lower Caverns. However will you make it through the first months of being a Weyrling if these are your habits, hmm?"
"I have restraint when needed." Labarr reminded the headwoman, "I was with C'jan for almost a turn and my name was never dropped by any of the girls during that time."
Sol laughed, and shook her head. Incorrigible, he was. "Indeed. But you are busy making up for lost time, now." She looked at him curiously. "Do you want to be a father? Honestly _want_ to be?"
"No." Labarr said, a bit of the play gone from his voice as the question was a serious one. "Solieria, If any of these are mine, then they'll be raised well at the Weyr. I'm on good speaking terms with all the girls, but I'm not the type to settle down with a family just for convention."
Sol nodded, as if confirming a private opinion on the young man in front of her. "Its good you know that, Labarr. Very well, I'll let you off with just my gentle ... reminder. " She shook her head and chuckled. "You charming lout. The dragon that chooses you is going to have to be something special to match you!" She couldn't really scold him for living as just about everyone in the Weyr did, but perhaps he'd think a few seconds longer before he tumbled the next girl. Labarr stood up, thinking he'd drop by on Nirlie and see how she was doing. She wasn't the sort to get clingy on a man, so perhaps he'd see if she was up for another roll in the furs. It wasn't like she could get any _more_ pregnant than she already was. "Have a good day Solieira. See you at the Hatching!"
Solieira just laughed. Sometimes being a Headwoman at a Weyr was more fun than any other job on Pern.
