Description: After returning home, Sh'lua reports in for his Wingleader.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 6, day 7 of Turn 5

"Ahh, I was wondering when we'd see you," K'hetah said when the bluerider appeared at the door of the wing office.

"K'hetah," Sh'lua nodded his head. "I came as soon as I got back from Dragonsfall Weyr," he continued. Well, after removing straps from Galerith, dropping his bag to his weyr and removing some clothing. It felt nice to be back at the warmth of Dolphin Cove Weyr.

The bluerider had a tough sevenday behind him, and it showed.

"How are things going there? Takes a seat, Sh'lua," the Wingleader said, indicating one of the armchairs beside his desk.

"My son will recover, thank Faranth for that, but he will be one of those permanently injured riders. He's blind now," Sh'lua replied.

"Ahh." K'hetah sometimes wondered how many of the injured riders the Weyrs would be carrying by the end of the Pass. "How is he in himself?" he asked, his background Turns as a healer making him interested in more than just the physical recovery.

Sh'lua spread his hand in gesture of uncertainty. "He is still asleep most of the time."

"Not dying isn't the end of his story, you realise," K'hetah said, thinking of the young man's long adjustment. "How are you going to manage being here? I'd rather you didn't run yourself ragged splitting your time between responsibilities here and at Dragonsfall."

"I wish to transfer there," Sh'lua replied.

Which wasn't so unexpected. "Is that the best thing for him?" the bronzerider asked bluntly.

"I hope so. That way I can help him to adjust his new life," the bluerider replied. He had no guarantees. No one had. You just had to live your life and see how it turned out.

"What about his mother? Weyrmate? Who else is there?"

"He has no weyrmate. Mother and sister do live in same weyr."

"But you feel he would be best served by having you there as well?" K'hetah wasn't quite sure if the other man wanted to move to make _himself_ feel better about his son's maiming, or if it would genuinely help the young man.

"Yes, that's how I feel," Sh'lua knew he couldn't explain it with logic.

If the other man was sure, then ... K'hetah was a little wary of holding too firm views on the subject of parents and children, since he'd never been a father himself. "All right. I'll recommend the move to the Weyrleader." The Wingleader got to his feet and held out his hand to the bluerider. "I hope things go well for you, and for your son."

"Thank you, Wingleader," the bluerider replied.
