In Bed

Writers: Francesca, Paula
Date Posted: 29th October 2009

Characters: G'len, Sh'dori
Description: G'len and Sh'dori in bed after Tobereth is caught by Rahmuth.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 5, day 3 of Turn 5

He was in a bed. That was the first conscious thought that crossed G'len's mind. He was on his side, one arm under his head, legs bent slightly. And he was uncomfortably warm. It took him a moment to realize that the heat was radiating from something, no, someone, pressed against his back, an arm wrapped around his waist. His own free arm reached over to touch the arm, naively believing he could identify the dragonrider in that way. Actually, from that touch he could eliminate many potential bedmates, including the Weyrleader, because the arm was extremely hairy.

The greenrider tried to think of who it could possibly be but didn't have the energy or the patience to do so for more than a few seconds. So, he turned slowly around until he was facing the other man. "Sh'dori," he whispered to himself, not wanting to awaken him. So, Tobereth had been caught by a brown. He wondered if Loseth had been in the chase or not, but it didn't really matter.

G'len sat up slightly to see if Sh'dori really had that much hair everywhere. Yes, he certainly did. He smiled at the discovery and settled back onto the bed, in no hurry to leave.

Sh'dori was slow to wake up. He was just feeling too relaxed to move. It had been several months since Rahmuth had caught anyone and he wanted to enjoy it.

G'len stayed on his back, eyes closed and a slight smile on his face. It was wonderful to just relax. The weyrlings had been practising flaming but he had known Tobereth would be rising and so had taken a very minor role in the exercise. When he had slipped away to the feeding grounds, it shouldn't have been noticed by the weyrlings. There was nothing else he needed to do that day, except eat a late dinner.

Sh'dori finally opened his eyes enough to see who it was. He hadn't really paid attention to whose green it was. "Hi G'len," he said and yawned.

"Sh'dori," the greenrider replied with a smile. "Rahmuth flew well."

"He has lot of experience," The brownrider said.

G'len made a noise of agreement, turning on his side to face Sh'dori. "I never knew you had so much hair," he teased, a hand reaching out almost involuntarily to touch the other man's chest.

"It's a family- trait," Sh'dori shrugged. "Some people like, some run off screaming."

"I find it kind of...fascinating," he admitted, glad the other man didn't shy away from his touch.

"It's getting grey," Sh'dori said sadly and pulled some of them straight.

"That happens to all of us. I guess it would be a bit more noticeable with you though." He smiled. "It makes you more distinguished."

"Or just old, " Sh'dori said with amused snort.

"Well, if you want to put it that way. I don't think someone with muscles like yours can be called old though." An advantage of the hard life of a dragonrider was that everyone was muscular, even if not breathtakingly beautiful as suggested in harper romances.

"Thank's," Sh'dori said with a twinkle in his eyes.

"I think this is the first time Rahmuth has caught Tobereth," he commented, a hand still lightly touching the brownrider. "Does he chase very often?"

"All the time," Sh'dori rolled his eyes. "It's surprise we get anything done. He doesn't win nearly that often though, being brown. Bronzes catch the Golds and Blues catch the Greens."

"You should tell him to stick with the larger greens. Tobereth is almost always caught by browns and bronzes," he said, inverting the order for Sh'dori's benefit. "Loseth caught her the last two times."

"The weyrleader's?", Sh'dori whistled lowly, "Ambitious, isn't she?"

"She only lets the best catch her," he replied. He couldn't help feeling a bit smug, and it didn't help that waves of contentment were coming from the still sleeping green. If only she would let herself be caught by a blue more often. "What do you generally do after flights?" G'len asked, curious. "Take a cold bath? Find a willing woman?"

"Depends," Sh'dori shrugged.

"Well, how about today?" If Sh'dori were willing, G'len would be happy for some relief, but at least he wasn't feeling as wound up as he was after Tobereth's last mating flight.

"If you don't mind, I just might go back to sleep," Sh'dori replied.

"No problem." The greenrider gave a mental sigh. But really, he wasn't expecting Sh'dori to be interested in him. Although he was tempted to remain in bed for another while, being close to a naked man would definitely not be relaxing. So instead he swung his legs over to the side of the bed, stood, and began the task of finding his clothes.
