Moving In

Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 4, day 14 of Turn 5

"Is this everything?" There hadn't been much, but Ri'len realized he shouldn't have been so surprised by that. There wasn't much room in the barracks for frivolous things, so why would he think she'd have more to move into the weyr? "I can help you get unpacked."

Sorsha just nodded. She looked around the weyr that had been assigned to them both and noticed all the things already there. They had placed everything they'd picked out for their little room in storage when they'd impressed, and she saw that Ri'len had gotten it all back out and tried to decorate the much larger space. "We're going to need a table over here maybe." she said absently as she noticed an entire corner completely empty.

"We can go down to the storage during free time or next rest day." Ri'len suggested as he dragged Sorsha's trunk where they would have easy access to it. He opened the top and began to take things out. "I hope the way I organized things is okay. If not, feel free to change it."

"I'd forgotten about the pillows." She smiled as she walked over to the bed and picked one up, playing with the fringe between her fingers. "It seems different now though doesn't it?"

"Different?" Ri'len looked up from where he had been setting some of her clothes in a chest of drawers. "Different than you imagined? Good or bad?"

Sorsha sighed as she sat down on the bed, clutching the pillow in her lap. "I don't know, just not the same as when we first got here. More serious I guess? I think before, it was like we were playing, now it's very real. Does that make any sense?"

"In a sense I guess it does." Ri'len turned away from the chest of drawers, his eyebrows raised. "Any regrets?"

She looked up at her husband a gave a small smile. "I can't imagine my life without Roseth. But I do miss Willet Grove. Life was simpler there."

"We can visit." They had a lot of freedom when it came to traveling. "But what I meant was, do you have any regrets about us."

"Do you?" Sorsha replied, suddenly uncertain. As a bronzerider he could have any woman he wanted. Was he regretting his quick marriage to her?

"Not at all." There was no hesitation in the reply. Ri'len closed the distance between them and drew Sorsha into his arms. "My only regret is that I didn't meet you sooner."

Sorsha stiffened in his arms. They'd gotten better over the last sevenday, holding hands, letting their legs and arms brush against each other while sitting, but not this, nothing so intimate. She regretted her involuntary reaction as he let go of her immediately and looked up at him guiltily. "I'm sorry, you just startled me is all."

"Why are you so afraid?" Ri'len hated the way she was so hesitant to get close. He missed holding her, touching her, being with her. He wanted to feel her skin against his, her warmth enveloping him. It was frustrating to say the least.

"I don't know, it's silly." Sorsha shook her head as if she could shake the unwanted fear right out. "I'm just worried about Roseth, about upsetting her again."

"You know I will stop if she does, right?" Ri'len didn't want anything to happen to Sorsha, and that meant he didn't want anything to happen to Roseth either. "You just tell me, I'll even have Monilath keep an eye on her. I'll not put her at risk."

Sorsha nodded. She knew Roseth was fine, her dragons mind was calm, only curiosity at her riders worry clouded it. The dragons were old enough, they understood now... and yet, Sorsha couldn't seem to accept that. She could have lost her lovely green because of her stupidity, and that was something she was still grappling with. "Let's unpack okay? We've got time to go down to stores and look for a table if we hurry."

"All right." Ri'len took the chance to embrace her though he kept it a gentle hug with little more than affection to it. Perhaps they could try something more intimate later. He pulled away, chucked her chin, then turned to resume his unpacking.

She looked after him as he went back to putting away her clothes. She knew she was hurting him, he was such a physical person, always showing how he felt in little touches, caresses. She felt horrible, but didn't know how to _make_ herself relax. It would just take time, she supposed. Maybe later would be better.
