Characters: Zelle, Eleada
Description: Eleada visits Zelle in the infirmary.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 4, day 2 of Turn 5

Eleada eased herself past the woman and crying child who'd snagged a poor, unsuspecting apprentice outside the infirmary entrance, and looked around briefly, trying to orient herself a little while ignoring the sudden queasy feeling in her stomach. She'd spent a little too much time in here to be comfortable after flights, hoping against hope that her latest miscarriage wasn't going to be the one killed her liked she'd been warned...

To the right, that was it. And near the back.

She strode forward, dancing around the various healers going about their tasks as she made her way towards the curtained bed belonging to Zelle. She found herself smiling and answering far more cheerful greetings than she'd expected, and cringed inside. She really should have visited Zelle before now, but... well. The fact she could name most of the staff on duty at the moment and with at least half of them inquiring about her health every two steps... She hoped Zelle would understand.

"Have you come to rescue me?" If Zelle was perturbed by Eleada's lack of attention, she wasn't making a fuss about it. The greenrider turned in her bed, then winced at the action. She was far better than she had been when Zelle had first arrived at the infirmary, but certain gestures and sudden movements still brought about twinges. The fellis helped and she was grateful when they administered it to her. Zelle didn't let the pain keep her from leaning toward Eleada, however. "Please tell me you've come to break me out of this prison!"

Eleada laughed, sitting in the chair beside the bed and scooting it a little closer. Oh how well she knew that sound of desperation... "Sorry, no chance. If you wouldn't break me out of here last time, then I'm not going to either."

"Bah." Zelle flicked her hand at Eleada playfully and did her best to sport a pout. She glanced behind her and then leaned forward to whisper in a conspiratory manner, "No one's watching. It wouldn't take long. You could just drag me."

Eleada grinned. "Nope. Sorry. Even if you didn't start screaming, someone would stop me before I got you out of bed. The staff knows me too well."

"It was worth a try." Zelle sighed in a pitiful manner, but it didn't stay long. "I do get out of bed, though it's only to use the privy and for therapy."

"That's better than nothing, at least."

"Yes, but I'm so tired of being stuck here." Zelle huffed impatiently and smacked her matress with the ball of her hand. "This thing's going to have a permanent Zelle impression in it."

"Better a Zelle impression than a permanent Zelle." Eleada pointed out. "I know it's rough, but you're far better off trusting the healers than not -believe me, I know." She grimaced.

"I know, I know." Zelle flipped a bit of hair behind her ear. "I complain a lot, but I _am_ listening to them. Besides, K'hetah would kill me if I didn't."

"And then I'd have to listen to him grumble." Eleada added. "So following orders is clearly in the best interests for both of us -for once."

"I suppose your right. I wouldn't want to inflict K'hetah upon anyone." He was all bark and no bite, though, Zelle knew that. Of course, some people might not.

"Oh, I don't know. He seems to be pretty good at inflicting himself on people." Eleada said lightly. "Or at least his hidework. I swear the man has a drudge or a flit hidden somewhere whose only job is to move his hidework off his desk."

"His desk can get cluttered. I've seen it before." Zelle's eyes shined with amusement as she spoke of her friend. He had been one of the most frequent and consistent visitors.

"Only because you put the papers there."

"Me?" Zelle giggled. "Trust me, I have very little to do with that." Well...maybe somewhat."

"Sure..." Eleada drawled. "Whatever you say. Just be sure that the healers aren't going to hunt you down if you decide to do a little more."

"I'm just the victim." Zelle sniffed and then grinned. "Just wait until I'm back on my feet."

"Believe me, I am." Eleada assured her with a grin. "I've got some ideas that I think you'll like."

"Oh yeah?" Zelle leaned forward, her grin widening. "Do tell!"

"Well, for starters." The wingthird started, eyes sparkling. "I have an extremely stiff bronzerider brother coming to visit from Fort who needs a little... loosening. I've been collecting the tunnelsnake skins Arieoss keeps dragging in for a while now."

"Do I really want to know what you're going to do with all of those skins?" The expression on Zelle's face made it clear that she did indeed want to hear, a silent encouragement to Eleada.

"Well, he has this riding jacket..."
