Characters: Sorsha, Ri'len
Description: Sorsha and Ri'len talk about her concerns for Roseth.
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 4, day 1 of Turn 5

"So...we're coming to a major turning point today." Ri'len was finally alone with Sorsha. Since they were going to go /between/ that very day, it was all right. Neither of them were burdened with their chaperones and their chaperones with them. He glanced over at his love, a smile playing across his lips.

Sorsha gave Ri'len a weak smile as they sat across from each other at the breakfast table. They were alone, and it was odd. She'd gotten so used to Meledei and Z'ku with them at almost all times over the last month that it made her slightly guilty sitting with him even though T'kob had talked to them both first thing and given them the okay to be together again. "Yes we have. Senior Weyrlings. Are you excited about today?"

"Excited, scared. A mingling of both." Ri'len took a moment to eat a bit of his breakfast before asking, "What about you?"

"Yes, both." she agreed. "Worried for you, and our other friends of course."

"Not for yourself?" While Ri'len was scared of going /between/ he was even more frightened for Sorsha. What if he lost her? There was that possibility, the Weyrlingmaster had made them fully aware of that. Yet, he couldn't force her _not_ to do it.

Sorsha gave a small smile, if she went /between/ and never returned, well, she wouldn't have anything to worry about. If Ri'len didn't come back though... "No, not for myself. I'll be fine, Roseth will take care of me."

"Just be careful." Ri'len reached over to cover one of her hands with his. "Make sure you have a sharp vision before you try anything."

Sorsha jumped slightly at the casual contact but forced herself not to remove her hand. He hadn't touched her since the incident that had confused Roseth, and her mind went to her green lifemate.

}: What is wrong? :{ Roseth asked lazily. She was enjoying a bit of morning sun before they started their day.

**Nothing, I just wanted to make sure you were okay." Sorsha tried to be casual and not upset Roseth.

}:I'm fine.:{ Roseth replied, already distracted by another green from her clutch that had landed next to her.

Ri'len pulled his hand away, frowning. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to make you uncomfortable." Sharding restrictions. They had only served to push a wedge between them. Ri'len hoped it would be easily knocked down.

"No," Sorsha tried to apologize, "I'm sorry, it's just... I don't know, I'm just nervous I guess." She reached out and took his hand on the table, giving it a quick squeeze.

Ri'len returned the squeeze. "It's nice that we can be alone now."

"Yes, I'd had just about enough of Z'ku's glares." Sorsha tried to lighten the mood. It was just going to take time to get comfortable with Ri'len again, but it would happen. She loved him and she married him so that she could spend her life with him, things would go back to normal.

"Yes, neither of us have to put up with that anymore." Ri'len chuckled, letting his thumb run gently over Sorsha's knuckles. "Meledei was a bit more gracious I dare say."

Sorsha nodded, it wasn't as bad for her, she thought. Meledei was a good friend and it never really felt like punishment when they had to be together. Of course, Meledei might have thought differently. There were plenty of times Sorsha had felt like she was intruding when one of the many bronze riders of the Weyr would come to call on her and Elleth. Meledei never seemed annoyed at her though and she was grateful for that. "Z'ku probably enjoyed getting to spend time with Meledei though. You and him are about the only bronze riders who've had the chance."

"Why do you say that?" Ri'len didn't really see himself catching a gold. Monilath hadn't shown any interest in any dragons beyond Roseth and he was keen to please the green. Of course, things changed when a female dragon rose. Perhaps Monilath would chase. "Z'ku can have her. Meledei's nice and all, but I have my eye on a certain greenrider."

Sorsha's expression was serious though, she knew Ri'len didn't want to think about chases and flights but it would be real soon enough. "I wouldn't mind though." She said quietly, not looking up to meet Ri'len's eyes. "I've thought about it, and I wouldn't mind if Monilath did catch Elleth. It wouldn't be so bad I think, if it was Meledei. I don't know how I'll do with someone else, but I think I would be okay if it was her. I just wanted you to know."

"I know." Ri'len reached across to tenderly stroke Sorsha's cheek. "But even if he chases, even if he catches, you're the one I'll be thinking of." He let his hand drop, but pulled hers to his lips for a kiss. "It will nice to be together again, the two of us. Well, the four of us. I've hardly unpacked. When did you want to move in?"

She gave a brief smile that flashed and was gone again at the mention of them being together. "I was thinking, maybe we should wait until after the this sevenday is over. Just to be on the safe side. We don't need to rush things..."

Ri'len took notice of the change and concern stirred within his breast. "Are you having second thoughts?"

"No!" She said a bit too loudly, startled by where his mind led. "They're just both still young. I don't want to chance something happening... if they're not ready yet."

Ri'len relaxed visibly and his easy smile returned. "I understand. I know Monilath is fine, but I don't know Roseth, you do. I'll not do anything if you think it might put her at risk."

Sorsha smiled at her husband, he was so understanding and wonderful to her. "Just a sevenday, I promise."

"You're worth waiting for." Ri'len assured her, sincerity plain in his voice. "I'll wait."
