Description: Kustaava's eagerness to fight Thread gets her killed.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 2, day 3 of Turn 5

"More firestone sacks!" Kustaava called. She had done her first run
delivering firestone to the fighting wings. As a member of the
weyrling wing, it was her job during the Fall.
}: Pluserth, Sabiruth, Tiamyth and Falzeth ask for more firestone:{,
Mindath told her.

"At least four sacks!" She yelled for the candidates who brought the sacks.
When no one was looking, she discreetly fed Mindath few clups of firestone
she had found from empty sack's bottom. Just incase they ran into to
Thread.

She got the sacks and tied them to the staps. She gave them a tug to check
they were secure and order Mindath to the air. ** Tell Pluserth we're
coming with his firestone.**

}:Mindath and hers are coming with more 'stone for us,:{ Pluserth told his
rider, as he turned his head to take the last chuck of firestone offered
to
him. }:They are on their way:{

Ava was so proud of Mindath, when she came out of /between/ right next to
Pluserth, but not too close to collide with him.
"Hey! Ready to catch!" She yelled and untied a sack.

"We're ready," called back An'dr as he untied the now empty sack and
prepared to toss it back to be refilled.

Ava tossed the full sack, she had plenty of experience, so the throw was
as close to perfect as a human could.

}:Look out Pluserth! :{ Mindath cried. Ava lifted her gaze and spotted the
Thead clump. It was falling in such angle behind Pluserth that the blue
could no way turn around fast enough to scorch it before it would hit his
tail.
** Let's help a friend! You're good with the firestone?**

}: Yes, :{ Mindath answered eagerly and surged forward under
Kustaava's guidance.

Nalbath, a blue in formation behind An'dr and Pluserth, had also
spotted it and moved forward to take care of it. But Mindath got in the
way. Nalbath had to cut off his flame and swerve sharply to the left to
avoid collision The whole formation was thrown off. Sabiruth had to turn
quickly to avoid Nalbath and the chain reaction spread. Nalbath's rider
was cursing loudly for over-eager and brash weyrlings.

**Pluserth?** queried An'dr as he tied on the new sack.

}:Mindath, she is trying to help us.:{

Ava felt satisfaction when she watched Mindath's flame turn the Thread
into ashes.

}: I can fight Thread too, :{ Mindath told proudly to her mate.
Pluserth had caught her more times than anyone else and she was very fond
of the blue. Her attention was on him, and she failed to notice the second
clump that was following the first...

}:We know you can,:{ Pluserth told her. Then sensing something from An'dr.
}:MINDATH!:{ shouted the blue. }:Look out behind you.:{

Mindath turned, but too late. The clump of Thread engulfed her whole head.
Kustaava screamed in horror when the writhing, silvery mass
started to eat her lifemate. Mindath had enough strenght left to take them
/between/ when the Thread reached her brains. But she had not enough mind
left to take them out of there.

"Mindath!" An'dr echoed the cry of his blue. What would he do now that Ava
and her beautiful green were gone for good?
