"I love my lifemate," Meledei declared even as she wrinkled her nose while regarding the pile of dung. It was her and T'nel's turn to shovel it. "But she sure does help to make a huge mess."
T'nel gave a snort "which one doesn't? I would much rather clean up after than one, than the mess these make." He was starting to break a sweat from the exertions but didn't want the stuff all over his face. He tried to wipe it off with his shoulder instead. "But I suppose it is a labor of love" he added as he gave an exaggerated sigh of submission to the task.
"That it is!" Meledei laughed as she chugged a goodly portion of dung into her wheelbarrow. Those would be hauled off and used for something or another, possibly fertilizer. Actually, Meledei wasn't quite sure what they did with it. Did they just discard it? Fertilizer had certainly seemed like a better idea to her. "But it's also not forever. Once they start going /between/, we won't have to do this anymore."
He chuckled, "I will keep that day in the back of my mind. One thing to look forward to." he said as he heaved another shovel full into his wheelbarrow. "when I think about it though, I don't know which is the one I look forward to the most, learning to fly, or not having clean up duty" he grinned as he watched her dump another shovel full into her wheelbarrow.
"That is a tough one." Meledei concurred as she paused to wipe her brow with her arm. "But right now, I'm leaning toward not having clean up duty." T'nel gave her a smirk, "just think of all the muscle we are building by doing this. Besides, they will just give us something else to take it's place. It has to be something more pleasant than this though." He added as he heaved another shovel full.
"I'll gladly take tossing firestone sacks over this." Meledei grinned and threatened T'nel with her shovel in a playful manner. "If you really want to do it though, feel free to do my share too!"
"That's ok," T'nel said as he shook his head rather quickly. "I think my share is enough thank you" he added as he laughed. "besides you would miss out on the character building essence of the job" he said giving her a sly grin. "Oh yes, this builds lots of character!" Meledei giggled and shoved the tool back into the pile of dung. "We're almost done here anyway. I should wait and make you do my share more towards the beginning."
T'nel laughed shaking his head as he stood for a second. The job had passed a lot faster than he had thought. " I wouldn't count on that too heavily. I am told I am enough of a character already " he said with a chuckle. "besides working with you has made the time go by without notice. We are to the end of our endeavours." he said as he heaved the last of his pile into the Wheelbarrow
"You're right." Meledei dumped the last of the dung into the wheelbarrow and let out a quick breath. "Well, let's go get rid of this and wash up? I really don't want to smell like dung for the rest of the day."
"Works for me, besides, I am getting a little hungry, want to stop for a snack after we clean up?" he said as a very audible rumble came from his midsection.
"Now that sounds like a good idea." Meledei agreed as she hurriedly wheeled the dung out of the barracks.
