Lady Felyna

Felyna

Corowal was filled with pleasant anticipation as he waited for Felyna, Sarban and Vanea. He had summoned both the Steward and Headwoman for a meeting.

It had been a vague notice and Sarban was unsure of what sort of meeting it would be. Gathering his latest report, he made sure he could provide figures if the Lord Holder asked. With his hides inside his binder, he walked to the Lord Holder's office and halted outside of the door. "Here to report, Lord Corowal."

"Thank you, Sarban, put it on the desk. Have you met Lady Felyna before?" Corowal said, drawing attention to her.

Vanea was in a rush. She had received the summons from Lord Corowal at the worst possible time, with both laundry and cooking in full swing. She was not one to shirk her duty, and had taken a quick peek to assure herself that the newest girl in the laundry was doing as expected. Then she peeked into the kitchen, noted that Usha was doing more bossing than stirring and quickly changed assignments there - she would deal with Usha more thoroughly later, but at least the evening meal would not be burnt by the time she returned.

She stepped into the Lord Holder's office and glanced around to note those present before slipping to a spot next to the Steward.

The blond young woman was clad in a lovely gown in Emerald Falls colors, subtley stating what was already true, and looking her best. Eyes bright with pleasure, Felyna turned her warm smile on her betrothed, winking where he only could see. She could feel his eyes on her, and she revelled in the power it might give her over him. As the Steward and the Headwoman both joined them, the Lady turned her attention to each one in turn. She, of course, knew Vanea very well and often assisted her if asked to do so with various things since the Hold had not had a Lady Holder - until now. Or at least, it had a future Lady Holder.

Her fire lizard, Xebex, was watching the proceedings with interest from the back of Corowal's chair. His person had not been with him as much of late, and he was curious as any flit might be as to what was happening now.

The Steward was someone she was rather unfamiliar with, however, having focused most of her attention on Corowal and spending the rest of her time with the other women of the Hold, as was proper for her to do.

A smile for Vanea, then, and a friendly nod. "Hello Vanea." A faint curtsy was given to Sarban. "Steward Sarban, what a pleasure to meet you formally."

"Vanea, good. We are all here. I have an announcement to make: I've have proposed lady Felyna and she has graciously answered yes. We are getting married," Corowal went straight to the matter.

The Headwoman blinked at the announcement. Though she had anticipated that some day the Lord Holder would take a wife, the bluntness of the information caught her off guard. She recovered quickly, forcing a quick smile for both of the betrothed. "It seems that congratulations are in order."

Sarban, too, was completely baffled. His easygoing nature, however, allowed him not to express it too openly however. "Oh aye..so is there a date?" Inside his head, he was mentally wishing he knew just *who* the woman was. He made a mental note to talk to Vanea about the whole thing later.

"No, we haven't set the date yet, that is one of the things we must settle in this meeting," Corowal replied.

Vanea bit her lip as she considered how to phrase her question as delicately as possible. "Is there any reason that we need to rush the marriage?"

"No," Corowal replied simply. "I rather had it not overlap with any other festivities."

Corowal answered for her but Felyna blushed at the very thought. How anyone could mistake Felyna for someone who would allow herself to be bedded before she was wedded was beyond her comprehension.. "Vanea, of course there isn't. We just wish to be married as soon as its proper to do so, and as my Lord says, not take too much focus off other festivities." What she didn't say was that it should be _her_ day and she didn't wish to share it with any other event, even Turnover.

She smiled at Corowal for a moment, then added one to Sarban and Vanea. She had been in the hold for turns, though, and neither of these people should be _too_ surprised at Corowal's choice. They'd been spending a great deal of time together over the last several months.

"Ah well...something of that magnitude would have to be prepared for." Sarban thought to himself of everything he would have to do. "The Council would have to be notified. We'd have to notify the beastcrafters so they could make sure we had enough stock to accommodate the food. I'd say we'd have to wait at least three months, maybe four to give the celebration its proper due." He looked at Vanea who had more experience than he did with something that large.

The Headwoman nodded. "Particularly with the festivities that we're already planning for Turn's End. If you want this celebration to be separate, then we need time to both clean up and recuperate from one Gather before starting in on another ? especially one of that magnitude. The marriage of a Lord Holder is quite an event."

"Felyna? It's your day, you set the date. We also need to make the marriage contract with your parents. We can make the official announcement of engagement during the Turn Over," Corowal said and looked his fiancee inquiringly.

Perhaps sometime in month 2? Early month 2 gives us plenty of time to ready for a wedding, with enough time after Turnover. It will keep the Hold excited and interested too, and give me time to have the perfect dress Tailored." She lay her hand on Corowal's arm. "Does that suit, my Lord?"

"It suits me just fine. But it's the staff who will be doing all the work," Corowal pointed out and looked the headwoman and steward.

That would give them two months including cleaning up after Turn's End. Sarban didn't particularly like those odds, but he supposed if Vanea thought it would be doable, then he'd agree. She had more experience in the full scale management of events than he did. "Vanea, do you think that will be sufficient?" He was thinking at least one more, to be on the side of caution.

To Vanea this was quite a relief, giving her time to plan without trying to juggle the Turnover celebrations at the same time. "That would be fine, my Lord. After Turnover many of the workers seem to experience a let-down of sorts and this would give them something to anticipate."

"Sounds like the date is set for month 2. Gives us good time to prepare. Sarban, I want a preliminary draft for the marriage contract to my desk, let's say within two sevendays," Corowal said.

Felyna raised her chin as Corowal spoke, and she nodded. "That sounds wonderful, Vanea, Sarban. I am sure the two of you will provide a wonderful celebration." She turned to smile warmly at Corowal. "I can think only of marrying my Lord as fast as possible." She knew better than to bring up her interest in the contract in front of the others. But in private, she would express her desire to Corowal.

"Well, that should be all for now. We all are going to be busy," Corowal said. "Thanks for your time, Vanea, Sarban."

Vanea rose to her feet and nodded acknowledgment as she made her way toward the door, her mind now on both the many tasks she had before her for today and for that special day only a few months in the future.
