Blowing out a heavy breath, T'amrek nodded, concentrating on focusing on her and not on his feet. "I hope you don't need to make a trip to the infirmary after this. If I've broken anything I truly am sorry."

"I know. It's okay, you're worth it." Zelle assured him. He was finally moving a bit better, relaxing. She needed to distract him with more conversation. "You're quite pleasant to be around when you let yourself."

Lowering his voice, he darted a look around. "Don't let that get to be public knowledge, I have a reputation as a grump that's taken me turns to cultivate." The brownrider replied.

"I'll do my best to keep it under wraps." Zelle whispered back. The music changed to a slower song. Zelle moved in closer as the music dictated, flowing together with the brownrider and changing the steps.

T'marek instantly tensed again. "Uh..." He felt awkward with her in his arms, not quite sure how close he should be and not really sure how close he wanted her to him.

"Just relax." Zelle swayed with the music. Though the man was really supposed to lead, she was doing most of it, trying to help him out of his awkwardness. She chuckled in amusement. "You're going to step on my toes again if you don't."

"You say relax like it's an easy thing to do." T'marek quipped, letting out another deep breath. This dancing stuff was definitely low on his list of fun things to do. "Okay... talk to me about other things then. Anything new going on in your life?" Not that he really wanted to know, he told himself, but it would distract him perhaps.

"Not really." Life was the same, continued on, through pain and joy. As T'marek's foot came down just before her response, she laughed, then added, "You know, if you send me to the infirmary, they're going to wonder about the men I hang around with."

That caused one brow to arch. "The men you hang around with? Someone else has put you in the infirmary recently?" The brownrider asked.

"K'hetah, before I transferred here." Zelle shook her head. "We were climbing on some rocks. I caught my foot and fell, he tried to catch me and...well...he wound up making things worse. He also gave me a black eye."

Blinking, now both brows rose. "K'hetah? My Wingleader, K'hetah?" T'marek asked, a bit surprised. He didn't really know what to say to that.

"Yes, your wingleader." Zelle did laugh then. "He didn't mean to give me the black eye. He really was trying to help me. His hand just got in the wrong area."

"Apparently if you ended up with a black eye." The brownrider remarked. "Well I will attempt not to give you a black eye, but I can't promise I won't give you broken toes."

"It was a black eye and a sprained ankle as well as a nice gash." Zelle clarified, eyes twinkling with amusement. "So I suppose broken toes would simply just add to my injury list. Not that I mind. I'm willing to make certain sacrifices for my friends."

"Not to change the subject, but... are we done yet?" The question was said in a tone that very much resembled a whine. "As... fun... as this has been, it's getting a little crowded in here."

"I suppose so." Zelle sighed softly and released the brownrider. "It was fun though, really, T'marek. I'll have to remember to draft you for dancing again some time."

"Uh... no." T'marek said with a shake of his head. "Don't. Find some other poor slob to suffer through this. If you really are my friend, please don't make me suffer through that again."

"I'll try." Zelle teased and gently poked T'marek in the arm. "It was quite nice when you finally did relax and look at me though. Hopefully I didn't make you go blind with my ugliness."

The brownrider made a face. "You are far from ugly, Zelle. And it's beneath you to try and worm a compliment out of me." He was actually teasing her, but his tone was it's usual dry timbre.

"You are not a worm, or a grub, or a snake." Zelle moved forward and gave T'marek the second hug she had given him since their meeting. "You're my friend and I appreciate the compliment."

Just as awkwardly as he had the first time, T'marek hugged her back, gaze darting around at those nearby. "You're uh... welcome." He said a bit nervously.

"I'll relinquish you from your torture now." Zelle stated cheerfully as she broke the embrace. "Do try to have some fun. Perhaps I'll come find you before the night is over."

The barest hint of a smile curved his normally sullen lips. "I'll be sure and run the other way if I see you first." T'marek replied, flashing her an extremely rare wink.

"I can run faster than you can." Zelle grinned. She took his hand, squeezed it, then walked off with a wave. She'd bugged him enough, it was time to give him some space - for a little while anyway.
