Relea

Relea

Leaton stood to the side, observing how they loaded the riverboat. He frowned as he saw how they handled the rather large trunk that he had brought to be put aboard. "They're manhandling it!"

The girl who stood to his side didn't say anything. She simply stared at the men as they worked, watching them as they lifted, shifted, tugged, groaned, and stretched. Pullies were used for the largest of cargo. Their luggage wasn't quite that large, but it did take a couple of men.

Leaton fairly growled and without a word to his feminine companion, moved forward with swift strides, calling out to the men and giving sharp commands. It was only then that Relea seemed to notice him. A rueful expression crossed her features and she turned away, as if not wishing to be witness to her brother's antics. Instead her gaze swept over to the rolling river and she moved away to the edge of the dock, leaning to gaze over into its depths. She smiled down at her reflection as it rippled and squinched with the river's movement, even that close to the bank.

"Sorry Sir!" Nico called out, then realised who it was giving them orders. "Every care is taken, Sir." he called back. "Please stand aside, you don't want to get too close." His was about to return to his work when he spotted her. The girl who had haunted his dreams the last couple of nights. Her of the deep blue eyes. He was so lost in her appearance he almost missed the next piece of luggage that was thrown his way.

While he noticed her, she didn't notice him. She continued to look down into the water a few more minutes, then straightened and turned. Leaton did step back, but contninued to mutter something under his breath. He made some sort of hand signal to the girl. Whatever it was, she nodded in understanding and stayed right where she was as her brother stomped off of the landing dock and back to the mainland, evidently intent on something or another. She watched him go, then sighed softly as she finally turned her attention to the men loading the boat.

Nico continued to load the boat, but his eyes constantly drifted across to the girl on the dock. There was something about her, something that had a hold of him and wouldn't let go. He hadn't missed the silent communication between the pair, and he wondered why she put up with his treatment of her, though he had witnessed it before with others.

The girl's eyes swept across the scene before her and, a moment later, they fell across Nico as he was looking at her. She cocked her head, then smiled, lines crinkling at the corners of her eyes - obviously someone who smiled a lot. She nodded politely to him.

His flashed a smile to her when her eyes met his, and almost toppled backwards fromt he bow of the boat as Fog tossed another packaged across at him. He steadied himself and glanced across at the girl - she was the man's sister, or so he had said - Nico hoped that were true and that at some stage of the trip he would get a chance to speak with her.

His chance wouldn't be then, however, as Leaton returned a few moments later. Relea stood and he took her by the arm then disappeared onto the boat - though not without one last glance at the men who were working.
