In less than two sevendays, Eliste was widowed and remarried. The second time, however, she found herself a lot more relaxed and a lot more content. She had no qualms, no worries, no fears. She did not go into her quarters with any hint of uncertainty. That time, she _wanted_ to be married. She looked forward to it.

She looked around at the quarters she would share with her new husband. It was bigger than the ones she had when she had been a passenger. Not much, but enough to notice. She didn't mind. She didn't need a lot of room, there were other things far more important. She smiled down at one of those things that was latched upon her breast, suckling away, his eyes closed. There was no need to hide herself any longer. They were married now. Temptation didn't mean anything any more.

Eliste gently caressed her son's cheek. He had started fussing when they were halfway there and the first thing she did was to climb upon the bed and begin to feed. He was slowing down and it wasn't long before he stopped completely. She unlatched him and his head rolled back, mouth open, white-coated tongue visible. Eliste laughed softly, then stood and placed him in the cradle that Jardon had made - it had been there ready and waiting.

"How is he?" Fog asked. He had opened the door slowly, and watched as she had placed the child down to sleep. "And how do you feel?"

"He is wonderful." Eliste straightened, then turned to smile at her new husband. "And I feel wonderful."

"Come here, wife." he smiled and moved around the end of the bed, his arms opened wide. "You look beautiful, do you know that?"

Eliste slipped into his embrace without hesitation. "You are blind, I think." She stated with a soft laugh as she leaned into him.

"No... you .. are ... beautiful." he said again slowly, interspersing the words with kisses on her lips.

"I hold my opinion." Eliste whispered in between kisses and returning them. She slipped her own arms around him, holding on to him tightly. "It's real, isn't it?" She asked after a moment, staring up at the man with whom she wanted to share the rest of her life.

"It's real my love." he said nodding, "You're stuck with me now, there's no escaping it." He had had a few moments there before the ceremony when he wondered if she would show up, and his relief had been palpable when he had seen her appear with Linli and Tahna by her side. His girls - his chest had swelled with pride at the sight of the three of them. Marilea had appeared from hiding aboard the boat to watch the ceremony. Her and Neke stood to the rear Marilea holding her child and Neke holding Follen, who had stayed quiet through the whole thing, as if knowing how important this was to his parents.

"I never would want to escape." Eliste closed her eyes and leaned her head against his chest. She could hear his heart pounding away within. "You were wrong about one thing."

"I was?" he asked, his face creasing up in question.

"You once said you would never own me," Eliste stated softly, "But you do."

"No...no." he shook his head, "I don't own you, I will never own you. But I know what you mean. And today I gave you my heart as well." He cradled her face in his hands, and gaze into her eyes. "I will always treasure you, Eliste. And you should never have cause to fear me or our love."

"I know. And you _do_ own me. I am yours, completely, totally, forever." Eliste reached up, fingers playing over his scar as they had before she had declared her feelings for him. "I am yours. You are mine."

He pulled her gently down onto the bed with him, his arms holding her to him as his head dipped to hers and he kissed her softly but insistently. "I love you." He said against her lips.

"I love you too." And she would finally get to be with him. She _wanted_ to be with him, to express that love in a physical manner. Eliste caressed his face once more before deepening the kiss, eager, willing, almost desperate for him.

Their lovemaking was slow and gentle, as each expressed their feelings and explored the other. Fog took time to make sure Eliste enjoyed this aspect of their union. His touch was tender and loving, his lips and hands featherlight upon her skin as he brought her to her peak time and time again before giving her sweet release.

It was different with him than with Helvar. There was no insistence, no demands that it be done his way. Fog took his time, gave as much as he received, and seemed more concern with her pleasure than with his own. It was making love, not sex. It was done as a couple, not one sided. It felt good rather than something she endured because it was her duty. For the first time, it was something she _wanted_. For the first time, she was satisfied instead of left wishing for something more.

When it was over, she clung him, her body warm against his, leg hooked over his, head upon his shoulder, arm draped over his chest. Drowsiness descended, tugging at her to go to sleep and she wasn't going to fight. She let her eyes close, a small smile playing upon her lips. That was the way things should be. Done together, each one giving and in turn receiving. That was the way she knew it would always be with him.
