Description: Tey visits B'lamick early on the restday morning and is not pleased with what she finds.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 11, day 14 of Turn 4
First thing on a restday morning and Tey was hammering on somebody
else's door. It seemed like very bad manners but she wasn't going to be
put off. Today was the day she was going to check out if B'lamick was a
messy or tidy person, and a surprise visit early in the morning had
seemed like a good plan when she had woken up before dawn.
B'lamick fought to keep his eyes open as he stumbled across the darkened
weyr. There was just enough light coming in from the ledge for him to
locate the pants he'd dropped on the floor after last night's card
playing. He didn't bother with his shirt or boots, if it was somebody
important he'd find them, otherwise, he'd just go back to his warm furs.
"Tey?" he was startled when he opened the door and saw the girl on the
other side, "Is everything okay?"
"Of course. Have you just got up?" she asked, wandering in to his room
without waiting for an invitation. "I've been up for ages."
"Just gotten up?" He waved at his half naked self as he shut the door.
"I'm still asleep. You realize it's a _rest_ day don't you?"
"It's been daylight for candlemarks. Well, almost for one." She looked
around and pulled the cord for the electric light. "Oh, dear. Now I
know why you stagger around in the dark. Does this room have external
windows?" Some rooms never had anything more than the light that came
through from the dragon weyr, but in the dimly lit room it was hard to tell.
B'lamick frowned at the girl who seemed for some odd reason to think his
weyr needed to be lighter instead of his preferred darker. "No, the
ledge lets in plenty light when there isn't a big bronze butt blocking
it out for me."
"Well if he's awake perhaps you could ask him to move? I want to see
this place properly."
"You've got to be kidding. He doesn't want to be up anymore than I do
right now." he mumbled as he found his shirt crumpled on the floor. He
started to put it on but thought better of it and threw it back on the
floor before flopping himself back on his bed. "I'll make you a deal.
Let's go back to sleep for a few hours and when we wake up, I promise to
introduce you to my chairs and my dresser, and each one of my shelves."
He emphasised the promise by patting the open side of the large bed for her.
"I don't think you have even as passing familiarity with dressers or
shelves," Tey said drily as she looked around the room. "I think I
should help you tidy up. That would be a good thing to do on a rest day."
B'lamick nodded with closed eyes, "Deal. Come on." he patted the bed
again, hoping she darkened the room before joining him.
"I don't _think_ so. Nobody's ever tidied a room in this sort of state
from the comfort of their bed." She did approach the bed but that was
only to grab an arm and start hauling at it. "Come on, B'lamick. The
restday is getting away from you."
He opened one eye as he felt himself inching towards the edge with each
pull. "I'm not going to win this one am I?"
"Not a chance. Accept defeat and get your backside off this bed."
Before she had time to react, he grabbed her by the waist and pulled her
down onto him. B'lamick rolled her over so he was pinning her down onto
the bed and grinned as he watched her squirm underneath him. "Not a
chance, _you_ accept defeat!"
"The forces of tidiness will always triumph over the forces of
messiness," Tey said, laughing. "Always!"
Her laugh was so infectious, he loved seeing her like this, "Tidiness
might win a few battles, but messiness will win the war!"
"Not the war for this weyr, it won't. Not while I'm on the job."
"A compromise then?" he suggested slightly out of breath from the
exertion used to keep her from escaping. He noticed her chest heaving
as well, and grinned. "No need for war when peace is a viable option."
"When getting off the bed and getting to work is a viable option," Tey
insisted. "Come on, B'lamick. You don't want to get a reputation for
being lazy, do you?"
"I'm not the one who only flies half a fall." he reminded her of their
earlier green vs bronze debate, "But okay, getting off the bed and
getting to work _is_ a viable option... but then _I_ get something in
return."
Tey considered that for a long moment and then nodded. "Of _course_ you
do ... You get a clean room. Now get off me and let's get to work."
"Not a chance." he grinned as he tightened his grip on her. "That's
just you getting your way, and not a proper compromise. Now, if I'm
going to agree to clean so very early on my restday, then it seems only
fair that the rest of our restday should be spent relaxing on the beach.
What do you say?"
"When the room is clean we can do anything you like," Tey agreed with a
grin.
