Characters: E'rae, Jh'slaen
Description: E'rae & Jh'slaen go on a hunting expedition in an unsettled part of the territory.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 11, day 21 of Turn 4

Leith waited on his ledge, hoping his would hurry up. The blue's harness bags were packed full of things that E'rae thought might be necessary. The rider didn't go off half cocked. He was inside the weyr, rummaging for his favorite hunting knife, as they waited for Jh'slaen to meet them before leaving.

"Hello! E'rae! Are you ready?" Jh'slaen called from Saradath's back as the green landed on Leith's ledge.

"Almost. Just trying to find..." He grabbed the heft that poked out. "Aha! There you are!" Attaching the scabbard to his belt, he walked out and nodded to the greenrider. "The dolphins say it should be good weather." Pulling on his jacket, he mounted up and strapped on his helmet and harness. "Ready?"

"As I'll ever be," the greenrider said, not very certain about the task they were undertaking. His experiences hadn't given him much familiarity with hunting and he had the feeling he might not be a very useful companion.

Leith launched first, spreading his wings and heading past the watchrider. The blue waited for the green to follow, sending her the between coordinates. When he knew she had them, he went between. And then, after a few moments, the blue dragonpair was flying above a lush Southern jungle, that looked to be ripe for all sorts of things. E'rae was looking forward to it.

Jh'slaen looked down on the forestland they were over-flying with some misgivings. The stuff looked impenetrable and he was sure all manner of dangerous creatures and unpleasant surprises lurked in the undergrowth.

Leith kept gliding over, enjoying the smell of the trees and the fruit that surely hung on some of them. When they came upon an open space in the growth, E'rae gave the signal to land. The blue circled and eventually set down, producing a small dust cloud.

Saradath's landing was neat and as gentle as any dragon could manage into a confined area. She stretched out her neck and opened her mouth as she was tasting the flavour of the air.

**Anything dangerous out there?** Jh'slaen asked as he unfastened his light riding straps. **Before I get down?**

}:Nothing unfamiliar,:{ his green assured him.

E'rae and Leith had done their own quick scan of the area. The bluerider unstrapped and dismounted, waiting for his blue to lie down so he could empty the harness bags. The carisaks inside held what he needed. "Hey Jh'slaen, can you help me with this?"

"Sure." With a belated attempt at enthusiasm the greenrider slid to the ground and crossed to Leith's side. "What do you want me to do?"

"Here let me hand you these...Set them aside, but neatly. We'll have to unpack what we need, then carry the rest until we find a good spot to hunt." He held out a few carisaks that contained food, water, and supplies.

"Right." Jh'slaen felt uncharacteristically clumsy as he unpacked the unfamiliar items.

Once all that was taken care of, E'rae took stock. "All right the best place to set up a small camp will be along the river there. We'll need to go up it a bit then unpack and get ready. With a proper fire and scenting, I don't think we'll have a problem."

"Scenting?" The greenrider looked along the river where the other man had pointed. "What _exactly_ is that?"

"Ah well we put a scent down around the camp that will generally keep away the wild creatures." Scents could be very helpful to a hunter. "You know if you are ever able to collect feline urine from a female, you can use it later to attract a male for the shot." He pulled on the pack that he'd fixed for himself and began walking.

"Collect ..." Jh'slaen's voice trailed off into silence and he made a couple of attempts to speak before finally saying: "How likely is that? Getting ... That?"

"Not very sharding likely. You have to be *very* good." E'rae smiled, not letting on whether or not he was in fact, that good.

"I might give it a miss then," Jh'slaen said, his tone relieved. "Is there anything else I should know about?"
