Tavia

"Weyrwoman? You wanted to see us?" Tavia asked, Aletta stood next her saying nothing.

Traelyn nodded, gesturing for the two greenriders to take a seat in front of her desk. "I wanted to talk to you about today's drills," she began once they were seated. "You two aren't the only ones who I've talked to today about this certain issue." Trae leaned back in her chair, looking at them. "I understand that it takes time for a Wing to adjust to its new Wingleader, but you both, and others, have repeatedly come out of /between/ higher than my coordinates."

"I'm not sure about Dragonsfall, but here the winds are harsher for the greens, if we try for the coordinates you set we get blow too close together. Our greens aren't as strong the golds." Tavia said.

"We're trying to keep to your coordinates as best as we can." Aletta added.

"I do understand the difficulty of flying in harsher winds. Far Island's, and even Dragonsfall's, skies are similar to Dolphin Cove's." The Weyrwoman leaned forward, resting her arms on the desk. "Not all the greens seem to be having the problem though, and that concerns me." It was crucial for a Wing to stay in tight formation during a Fall.

"We've been flying catch up for the wings ever since the beginning of last month, thread gets though at we have to flame it before it hits the ground. That job falls to the greens because we are the fastest." Aletta said her tone defensive.

One brow rose. "I'm not criticizing you, Aletta, so there's no need to get defensive," Traelyn told the girl as gently as she could, but her voice was still firm. "And yes, for those of us in the Queen's Wing, it is our _job_ to act as clean-up crew for the rest of the Fighting Wings. And for us to be successful in doing that, we need to keep a strict formation. Weather and winds change every Threadfall, and the Wing should be prepared for anything." Traelyn leaned back in her chair again. "Your green is still young, as I understand it. Nyith tells me she's two Turns?"

"Yes, she is."

"Part of the reason of why it's difficult for you to stay in formation could be that she is still young, and even though she has reached her full height, her muscles aren't quite developed to their full potential yet."
Traelyn looked from one to the other. "But I know that your green isn't as young. And neither were some of the others who were having the same trouble today. I'm going to add on another half a candlemark to our drills and see if that can help improve the stamina and strength of the Wing." Traelyn knew it had to be done. After the great losses Dolphin Cove had suffered, all the Wings needed to make up for lost riders.

Tavia nodded, after all what else could she do but agree.

Traelyn inclined her head as she stood. "That's all, Tavia, Aletta. Thank you for coming in."

"Have a good day Weyrwoman," Aletta replied. With that the two greenriders left the Weyrwoman's office.
