"Shards!" B'lamick hissed as he slid off his jacket. He'd felt the Thread slice into him the moment before Latarth had taken them between, but he'd known it wasn't bad so they'd finished Fall before heading to one of the first aid stations.
"You got a problem, there?" F'naren asked his wingmate.
"Nah, I-" he hissed as he tried to pull his tunic off, the pain of trying to raise his arm making him reconsider. "Do you mind helping me with my shirt? I got nicked by a Thread during the Fall."
F'naren helped the younger rider. "Doesn't look too bad," he said from the vantage of having had Jzeth scored twice in his short time in the fighting wings.
B'lamick nodded, craning his neck to try and look at it. "Thankfully, still doesn't look pretty though."
"Well, it's a score - what were you expecting? It looks like it just needs some redwort and numbweed. Or the other way around. Do you think you can reach it?"
"Yeah, sorry." B'lamick said, trying to shake himself out of a daze and focus on his first aid training. He reached for the redwort and linen and gingerly dabbed at the score on his arm. It stung, but he forced himself not to cry out. Setting it down he reached for the numbweed. "You know, I know I should be feeling lucky right now, but I can't help but feel a bit pissed. I've only been in a few Falls and I've already taken a hit."
"It's not skill - well, I suppose some of it is - but it's mainly luck.
I'm sure of it. Do you want me to check Latarth? Sometimes they lie, you know. Dragons. Or perhaps they don't feel scores the same."
B'lamick used the other side of linen as a barrier and scooped up a bit of numbweed which he then smeared over the wound. "He's okay. I checked him before I came over, I just need to learn to duck better I guess."
"I think we're trained so thoroughly on how to keep the big flapping wings and long tail out of Thread that we sometimes we forget about ourselves. Are you sure you can get to that? I could hold something,"
the brownrider offered.
"All right, mind wrapping it up for me? I'd probably mess it up trying to do it backwards and one handed anyways." B'lamick relented as he tossed the bandage roll.
F'naren wound the fabric around the other man's arm. "So, how much does it hurt?"
"Now that the numbweed is on, not much." the bronzerider tried to joke.
"Never been scored myself. Jzeth got a bit - twice. Big target ...
dragons. There. You're done."
B'lamick looked it over and smiled. "Hey thanks, looks as good as if a healer did it."
F'naren chuckled. "Looks like a person who grew up without healers nearby did it but I think it'll do the job."
"Well, I owe ya one." the bronzerider said as he gently put his shirt back on. "If you ever need bandaged up yourself, just give me a holler."
"Huh. You won't have any trouble finding me," the young brownrider said ruefully. "I'm sure to be the one squealing for help. At least you've got it over and done with."
"Hopefully" B'lamick said with a grin, "Thanks again, I'll see ya later."
"Yes, thanks to you ability to duck, you will."
