Waking Up To Your Face

Writers: Cali, Eimi
Date Posted: 7th May 2008

Characters: D'cal, B'vin
Description: D'cal and B'vin chat after another lost Flight
Location: Dolphin Cove Weyr
Date: month 9, day 3 of Turn 4
Notes: This comes after Aishara's Mating Flight

"So who was it this time?" B'vin asked lazily, not bothering to open his eyes. He knew D'cal was awake, his movements in the bed had roused B'vin from his sleep. "Hmmm," the bluerider hummed contentedly, curling his arm tighter around the greenrider. "Aishara's. Aosorath won last time, but this time... Oh well. I'm used to losing. Besides, waking up to your face isn't unappealing."

B'vin's lips twitched in a smile. As much as he liked to pretend that these lost-flight meetups didn't amount to anything other than helping a friend out, the fact that D'cal came to him so often (especially since he and Dyaera were 'on' again) meant more to him than he liked to admit. "You going back to sleep?" "Not yet." D'cal rested his chin on his friends shoulder with a knowing smile. "Though, I suppose I should be exhausted. And just how do you stay so perky, eh? Shouldn't you be tired to? I might have to take offence..."

"What makes you think I'm staying awake?" he said during a yawn, "I was just wondering if you were going to be here when I woke up." The bluerider's eyebrows raised in slight amusement. "Aren't I always after a Flight?"

B'vin closed his eyes, and again let just a twitch of a smile on his lips. "Yeah." After a moment he added, "But you don't have to if you don't want to..." "Hey," D'cal murmered gently, reaching up to turn the greenriders face towards his. "I wouldn't be here if I didn't want to be."

The greenrider tried to banish the doubt from his mind as he leaned down and kissed his best friend, "I know you wouldn't." D'cal willed himself to kiss him back, but he could feel a knot tighten in the pit of his stomach and before the kiss could deepen he pulled back. It was just a little too... intimate - much more like lovers than friends.

B'vin didn't notice D'cal's hesitation though, he was only half awake, and when the kiss ended he turned to go back to sleep. "Oh, before I forget, Serenth wants to go swim with the dolphins later, did Aosorath want to go?"

"He's a little moody right now, but I'm sure he can be convinced later," the bluerider said as he laid his cheek against B'vin's shoulder. Why were things so easy during Flight lust, and sometimes it was so sharding confusing afterwards?

The greenrider nodded in reply and smiled as D'cal settled against him.
Times like this when he was with D'cal were some of the happiest, he felt like he could be himself and relax. He'd never voice it, but inside he hoped that Aosorath would always lose the chase.
