It had been a long day and things had only gotten worse after her run in with the new Wingleader. Too much salt in the pie crusts for the evening meal, and someone had added salt to the bubbly pies as well, then to really ice the cake, the last batch of pies for the evening meal came out black. Aveery thought she had removed them when the time was up and she thought he had - when in fact neither had.

She was making the most of the time she had between finishing in the kitchens after the evening meal and getting back down there for the entertainment tonight. the bathing chamber was empty when she arrived, and she gratefully slid into the warm waters, submerging for as longa sshe could to totally clear her head.

Images of the new Wingleader kept coming unbidden into her mind. His tall, lithe body, the penetrating gaze of his light coloured eyes. She wondered just how much of his body held that warm brown, whether it was from being out in the elements or whether inherited from his parents.

She had been totally flummoxed by his proximity, and his aloofness, but that could have been the way they had met, after all its not every day you get coated in pies and gravy by a clumsy baker, she considered.

Mmmmm ... the water felt good, she thought, as she allowed her body to float up. Her arms and legs splayed out in the gently lapping water, her hair fanned out to a burnished halo, tendrils stretching out like some mysterious sea creatures tentacles.

Once more he came unbidden into her mind, his lithe figure sinking into the water, his eyes holding hers, the pupils dilating - darkening the smoky gaze he gave her. She allowed herself to float closer to him, her eyes barely open now as the heady scent of him washed over her.

His hand took her foot in the water, smoothing over the instep; clasped gently he began to massage the tired ball of her foot, his thumb pressing and rubbing against the muscle - kneading it. His hands were soft, gentle - almost hypnotising as he ministered to her.

One hand slowly began sliding back and forth along her calf, the ache in her muscles receding as she fell under his spell. She felt her body stirring in a way she had never felt before, slipping, falling under his spell.

She could lay here, like this for candlemarks. She sighed happily, content to just float here, and have him massage her slowly, until not a muscle in her body tensed at his touch...

"Feeling quite comfortable, there are you?" the voice echoed loudly in her head.

"Wha-, what?" she rolled over to see who was speaking and her face submerged for a moment, bringing her back into the present. "What?
Who?" she spluttered, and opened her eyes to see Aveery standing at the side of the bathing pool admiring the view as he stripped down.

"I, oh..." she quickly dropped her body back into the water, and felt the heat of a blush covering her from head to toe, making the already warm waters, more than a little uncomfortable. "I, er, came down to unwind." she said by way of explanation.

"Yes, well you looked to be a hundred dragonlengths away." he smirked, "Quite a pretty look on your face, I must say. And I really do find myself asking why exactly, you're still single."

"'Veer, for Faranth sake, please don't start that malarkey again." she turned from him and walked slowly to the other side of the pool, reaching for her towel as she did so.

"But you looked, well, spectacular laying there." he said, slipping into the pool. "If I was that way inclined, I wouldn't have bothered letting you know I was here, until it was too late, and I had you in my arms."
he shook his head, a cheeky smile on his face.

"You coming tonight?" he asked, with a quick change of tack.

"To the concert? Yes." she nodded, heaving herself from the pool, and draping the towel around her shoulders. "I thought I'd have just enough time to relax and unwind down here, before it starts. You?"

"I'll be there. My bluerider is coming with my tonight so you'll get to meet him." he winked.

"I still can't place him." she shook her head. "Then again, you go through them so quickly, you should have been a dragonrider yourself."

"Pfft!" he snorted at the idea, "I have more fun doing what I do, and no responsibility to anyone, not even a dragon." he grinned, "besides, I Stood from I was twelve 'til I was nineteen and didn't get so much as a sniff from a dragonet. I'm definitely not what they look for."

"In all honesty I can't see you as a 'rider, really. You're much more suited to your craft. Temperamental, high maintenance, pushy..." she began ticking of the words on her fingers, "Yes much more suited as a cook and baker." she grinned down at him, and ducked as he threw his sopping wet sweetsand bag at her.

"Get - go on. Or I'll find that Wingleader you dowsed with gravy today, and tell him that was your favourite way of meeting new men!" he teased.
He cocked an eye when he noticed the shock in her eyes at his words.
"Joke Josellyn!" he said quickly, to allay her fears.

"Okay. Well I'll see you in a candlemark, down at the dining cavern?"
she asked, bending to collect her dirty work clothes.

"Okay, see ya!" he called, and watched as she left the room. **Hmm, strange reaction to have, unless...**, a small gleam came into his eyes as his mind began working overtime.

**If Aveery hadn't come in when he did, I may have drowned,** she thought as she made her way back to her quarters. She had been so lost in her fantasy she had almost fallen asleep. She hoped 'Veer hadn't noticed the effect his teasing had had on her, though. Who knew how much teasing she would have to contend with if he realised how close to the mark he had come.

With a wistful sigh, she threw her towel on her cot and reached for the clean dress she kept for special occasions. Tonight would be a night of merriment and music, and if a certain rider should appear, she wanted to leave a better impression with him this time, than she had earlier in the day.
