Waking up was slow, and it took N'vanik a while to realize he wasn't
in his bed. Or Talryne's. Then foggy memories came back to him and he
opened his eyes to see whose Flight he had won. Looking at the
greenrider's back, he gave an amused snort. Even without the scars, he
would know who that was. Nudging her, he said, "wake up so I can be
polite and say goodbye."
Kenza made an annoyed noise and snuggled deeper under the furs. "No. Sleeping."
"You are the laziest after-Flight partner ever." N'vanik leaned up on
his elbow. "I don't know how you can just go back to sleep after
that."
She snorted and didn't bother opening her eyes. "Got a high opinion of
yourself there, lad."
N'vanik rolled his eyes. "Oh, don't pretend it wasn't good. Besides,
I'm wondering how you could go back to sleep after _any_ Flight."
"It gives the scared little boys a chance to sneak out so I don't have
to watch them fumble over themselves," she replied tartly. "Besides,
when else do I get to take a nap during the day?"
"That's what restdays are for." He looked at her for a moment and then
shook his head. "Is that really all you have in you? Just the Flight,
and then it's over? Shards, I always need at least another round."
She finally rolled over to give him an amused look. "So do I. Which is
why I pretend to be asleep until I'm alone and then go find someone
who is up to handling me. Granted, you're a little more likely to
survive than a lot of the men I've woken up to, but I think we could
both live without finding out."
N'vanik laughed. "So the secret comes out! I was beginning to think
there was something wrong with you. And yes, I think we could do
without another round together, which is why I woke you up to be
_polite_ and say goodbye." He smiled at her before sitting up. "I'm
going back to my weyr."
Kenza raised an eyebrow. "Picking up company on your way there?"
He turned away, looking around for his clothes. "I have someone
waiting," he said with a hint of embarrassment.
"Oh." Kenza poked him in the side and gestured to the far side of the
room. "Pants are over there."
"Thanks." N'vanik rolled out of bed and went to retrieve them. The
post-Flight lust was starting to stir and he calculated just how many
minutes it would take him to get to his weyr. **Loseth?** The dragon
gave a wordless, sleepy response. **Tell Tal I'll be there soon.** He
wanted to give her some warning, at least.
"So I assume this means things with Talryne have changed?" she asked
as she watched him pull his pants on.
He froze with his pants halfway to his waist and felt heat rush to his
head. Faranth's name, why was this _embarrassing_? Taking a breath, he
pulled his pants on the rest of the way. "You could say that."
Kenza raised an eyebrow. "You all right with that?"
He thought a moment before answering. "It sure is better than all that tension."
"Well, good. I'm glad things are going better." Though she wasn't sure
what would happen to N'vanik's already confused emotions now that he'd
added sex into the equation. "Go see her, N'vanik. I've got someone I
wouldn't mind visiting myself."
He sat on the edge of the bed to pull his boots on. "I'm tempted to ask who could handle you."
Kenza smiled. "Trust me, lad. You don't want to know."
"Well, if you put it like that." He glanced around until he located his shirt. Pulling it on, he said, "Thanks for a good time, and have fun with your mystery friend."
"Oh, I will, N'vanik. I most certainly will."
