A little problem

Characters: Sh'vair, Kustaava
Description: Sh'vair asks for Ava's help with a little problem...
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 3, day 13 of Turn 4

Sh'vair had thought about it a lot. It was important. After all, he was a _blue_ rider now. Despite the fact that it felt... unnatural...
he had to do it. For Nidogath. For the future greens he would one day catch. The weyrlingmaster's staff had encouraged them to experiment.
It was time he swallowed his reservations and just do it. But he needed someone who could help him. Someone he _knew_ was experienced in these matters...

"Hey Ava," he smiled nervously as he slipped onto the bench next to her.
"Are you finished with dinner? There's... something I need to talk to you about... If you don't have any other plans..."

"Just about," Ava replied cheerfully and showed him a half glass of juice. "And no, I have no particular plans for today."

Shards, part of him actually had hoped she had. He swallowed hard as he nodded. "All right then. Why don't you meet me in my weyr?"

"What for? What have you in mind? And where your weyr is? I can't remember who got weyr where," Ava asked. She was burning with curiosity now.

"I'd... rather not talk about it here. My weyr is next to T'pad."
He was pretty sure she knew where _he_ lived. Most girls who were experienced seemed to know were his weyr was...

"Right, on bowl side then," Ava deducted.

"Right. So if you could come, I'd appreciate it. But feel free to take you time." **Or change your mind...**

"Don't worry, I'll be there," Av promised.

Sh'vair quickly said goodbye and hurried back to his room. He paced up and down in front of the door, just waiting for her to knock. Shards. Candles. He should have thought of candles. Or flowers! Faranth's name, this was never going to work!

After finnishing her food, Ava quickly dashed to her weyr, changed to a dress and combed her hair. Then she hurried to Sh'vair's weyr. She was panting a bit when she knocked the door. Her eyes shone with expectation and the quick pace she had kept had made her cheeks rosy.

The look in her eye just made Sh'vair gulp nervously when he opened the door to find her there. "Won't you come in?"

"Sure," Ava smiled. His nervousness was so cute.

"Please have a s-s-seat." He wiped his sweaty hands on the legs of his trousers. **You can do this... You can do this... Wine! I should have thought of wine!...**

Ava took the offered seat and looked around in the weyr. "You have nice looking place. Is it starting to feel like home yet?" she asked.

Well, it _usually_ felt like home... Right now he was feeling almost claustrophobic! "Yes, I like it very much. But it needs more color..."

"Perhaps. So, why did you want me here for?" Ava asked. Of course, she had figured it out, that's why she had changed to the dress, but she wanted to hear him say it. And she did enjoy watch him squirm.

He mouth went positively dry. Best to get it out. "Well, see, the thing is... I need to have sex with a woman, and I have heard you're... knowledgeable in that regard. At least from a woman's point of view," he amended. Shards, he sounded like an idiot. Sighing he muttered, "I knew this was a bad idea."

Kustaava rose up, and placed her hands to his arms. "It's all right, Sh'vair. I'm honoured that you picked me," she said and kissed him.

Sh'vair held still and let her kiss him, even tried to reciprocate. Finally he sighed and he took a step back. "Shards, Ava, I don't know what to do. I feel _nothing_."

Ava pursed her lips thoughtfully. "Do you happen to have any wine around? It could help you to relax and get into the mood," she suggested. Well, this was certainly new for her.

"No. But I could run down to the kitchens and get some." Maybe the run might loosen him up a bit too! He was feeling so tense. Maybe that was it. Maybe he just needed to relax and everything would fall into place.

Ava let out a little sigh of frustration. The other blueriders she had come to know never needed any help from bottle. Or brown riders. She still hadn't gotten around to bronzeriders, but that was just matter of time.

Sh'vair hurried down to the kitchen and grabbed a wineskin. He threw nervous smiles at the people who greeted him along the way. Since he had been old enough to notice, he had only ever been attracted to boys.
Trying to stir up the same feelings for a girl, even a girl a beautiful and nice as Ava... It just didn't feel right. But he had to make this work. For Nidogath, he had to make it work!

Taking another deep breath outside the door to his weyr he tried to calm his nerves. **You're a bluerider, not a greenrider... There has to be something in you that can make this work...** At least he hoped that was true.

"I have wine! Let's not bother with glasses..."

"All right," Ava smiled, although _she_ didn't need any wine to get in the mood.

"I have to warn you, I don't drink much, so I might get drunk really fast." In fact, he had only had maybe three glasses of wine in his entire life!

"Better be careful then, I don't want you to drink so much that you pass out!" Ava said.

"How much is that?" Sh'vair asked, pulling the wineskin away from his lips. He licked them clean of the little drops as he handed the skin to her.

"That depends on person," Ava replied. She only took a small gulp. She wasn't much of a drinker herself and if she took too much, she got too relaxed and fell asleep.

"This stuff tastes terrible," Sh'vair said, nearly choking on a large gulp. Shards, but he hated dry wine! "Ok, let's try it again. Kiss me."

Kustaava didn't just kiss him, she also let her hands wander to his chest, stroking the muscles beneath the shirt.

It still wasn't feeling... right... But maybe it just needed time. He continued to kiss her, trying to imagine the face of someone he _was_attracted to... Like K'mai...

Ava could sense that Sh'vair's mind wasn't directed to the present situation and it disturbed her.

It took Sh'vair a moment to realize her attitude had changed. "What's wrong? Am I doing something..." Shards...

"This doesn't seem to be working," Ava replied with frustrated sigh. "I can feel you're not getting excited."

"But... We've just started... Doesn't it take some time?"

"Not with men, no. If you were truly interested in me, you would be showing it all ready," Ava said. "There's definent reaction you can't miss," she added with a wiggle of her eyebrown. She looked down to his groins. "And I'm not getting it."

"Maybe I'm... just a little too nervous." Shards, he had to learn _somehow_! What was he going to do when Nidogath caught a dragon of a _female_ dragonrider! He had to know what to do!

"Well, obviously," Ava said sarcastically. It was blow to her ego too. "I'm sorry, Ava. I didn't mean for things to go like this..." The shame of it! It was enough to make him want to cry. But that would just add insult to injury.

"So, what do we do now? Get buzzed?" Ava asked and took the wineskin. She swallowed a large mouthful.

"It's worth a try." **Or at least drink enough to forget any of this ever happened!**
