Natiya dropped a polite and neat curtsey when she was shown into Corowal's office, and smiled at the man politely. "Thank you for seeing me on such short notice. I know you must be very busy."

"Please, be welcomed. I always have time for my holders," Corowal replied with a benign smile and gestured her to take a seat. Settling into the offered chair, Natiya folded her hands together in her lap. "I'm afraid it is a rather delicate matter that brings me here today. I had thought to wait until Lord Enrizial had more time to recover from his own tragedy..." She trailed of delicately. "I would just a chance to put my own tragedy behind me."

"Unfortunately Lord Enrizial doesn't seem to get better," Corowal said. It was in his interest the more people talked and thought about the Lord Holder's incabability to perform his duties. "Then perhaps you could help me." She steeled herself and met Corowal's eyes frankly. "I need to know what the status of my marriage is, considering my husband's situation." "What do you want it to be?" Corowal asked bluntly. The case had been before his time, but he had read the records concerning it. He had read about all major incidents in Emeralds Falls. "I want it to be over," she replied just as bluntly. "He may not live long enough to work out his sentence, but even if he does, I don't wish to see him again. Ever."

"Well, I need to check the legalties from a harper but I believe you have a valid case for severing the marriage knot. He is sentenced criminal after all, and you are a respectable woman," Corowal replied thoughtfully. She smiled at that. "I certainly like to think so. My family has suffered enough at his hands already. I would like to know that we will be free of him."

Corowal nodded. "I'm sure that it can be arranged," he said.

The tight set of her shoulders relaxed somewhat at his words. She had never dealt with Corowal personally before, and she'd had more than enough bitter experience with the previous Holders of Emerald Falls to make her wary. "I would be very grateful."

"You're welcome," Corowal said. "From what I have heard, you probably are much better holder than your husband was."

"Not me," Natiya said, her voice filled with pride. "My eldest son. He has done an amazing job thus far, trying to fix all the problems left by his father."

"Well, you raised him, which gives you the credit too," Corowal replied with his most charming smile. "It is kind of you to say so." Her inability to protect her children from their father would be something she spent her whole life trying to make up for, she imagined. "Despite their father, they turned out all right. That tells me lot of you," Corowal said. Natiya accepted the compliment with a graceful nod. "I did my best. And that is what I'd like to do now, by making sure Otone can't intrude upon our lives again."

"Nobody would want that," Corowal agreed. "Please just let me know what I need to do, then. I can return once you've had time to check with the harper, if that would be best..."

"I'll send you a message when I know what charter and the harpers had to say on the matter. After that, it's just matter of writing and signing the document and declaring it to the public." Natiya smiled and rose gracefully to her feet. "Then I won't take up any more of your valuable time. Thank you so much for your understanding, my Lord." Corowal might not be the official Lord Holder yet, but Natiya was sure it was only a matter of time. Considering Enrizial's part in her family's tragedy, she had a hard time feeling pity for the young man who was about to lose so much. "It was a pleasure to meet you, ma'am," Corowal said. He liked very much of the 'my lord'. It had a sweet ring in his ears.
