Oria

Oria

C'lor grinned as he spotted his friend at a rather empty table. He hadn't seen Oria in awhile and was curious as to how she was. He slid in across from her and said, "How are you?"

"I'm good, you?" She smiled at the young bronzerider.

"Getting back to normal all the time." he replied truthfully. He was able to work with the weyrlings again and flying longer or farther everyday.

"Those weyrling not running you too ragged?"

"Not too much lately. I'm gaining my stamina back a little more each day."

"Good," Oria smiled, she was fond of the young bronzerider. "They tell you anything more about your eye yet?"

"I'm gaining sight back, but may not be able to see completely. They just don't know."

"Give it time, I bet you'll surpise them all. And I can see you making a great Weyrlingmaster one day."

C'lor smiled at the thought of becoming a Weyrlingmaster. Oria was the first person other than his family members to actual tell him that he _could_ be someone someday. Everyone else talked about what he _couldn't_ or _shouldn't_ do. He would be a real dragonrider someday even if it took him several turns to be back in thread fighting condition. "You really think so?" he asked still awed at the thought.

"I know so," she reassured him. "I can see it now."

"Thank you. It's nice to hear some positive projections of my future." he replied as he poured himself some more fruit juice from the nearby jug.

Oria pulled the jug closer and got herself a drink just after C'lor. "Maybe even Weyrleader someday," she teased.

"I doubt _that_ would happen, but it is something to work towards. How is your pretty green doing?"

"Flirting with the males again."

"Sometimes I think they'd do that all day if they could. Hayreith's always wanting to swim with this green or sun with that one."

"Except during fall," the imperative in the dragons to fly and flame the deadly menace overrode any other impulse.

"Of course. They hate to be grounded during fall. I know that well from my time in the infirmary. I feel sorry for the riders who have actually fought thread and have to be grounded during a fall." he replied remembering the way Hayreith had acted. It had been as if the bronze had been told he could never fly again.

"But when she rises, well it's something else again."

"We've not won a flight yet, but I'm sure he will in time." C'lor admitted.
It wasn't from lack of trying that was for sure. Hayreith loved to chase the greens and had tried a gold flight once even if he didn't last very long.

"One day soon he will."

"Perhaps it will even be Degrorth." he said with a smile. He loved spending time with the greenrider as she was such a nice person. She didn't dwell on what he couldn't do or didn't know as he was not brought up in a Weyr. She was just his friend no questions asked.
