Cherlyn looked up from the book next to her food as the weyrling took a seat across from her. She grinned halfheartedly at her visitor before looking back at her book, sliding a forkful of food into her mouth blindly.
Aidiata smiled as she sat. She wasn't very sure of herself. "Is that a good book?" she asked quietly.
Cherlyn looked up again. "Not really. It's about pregnancy and it's symptoms." After having her pregnancy confirmed by a healer she had wanted to know all about herself and what would or could happen.
"Congradulations. Are you excited?" She asked.
"Depends on when you catch me." Cherlyn replied, setting the book down. "Some days I look at my waist and wonder what I got myself into, other days I want to jump onto the Weyr rim and scream my joy to the world." She grinned. "And some days I just want to die. Those are mostly the days I get morning sickness." Her grin faltered only slightly.
"What's it like? I mean being pregnant." She asked curiously.
"Like, being pregnant." Chelryn shrugged. "I How can I describe it? I'm carring a new life inside of me. Its unbelievable, remarkable, and exciting all at the same time." Cherlyn's grin broadened at the thought.
"Are you doing this alone? I mean does the father know? Is he helping you?" She asked as she took a bite.
"I'm not even sure he knows. This child is the result of Lueanth's last flight and I haven't seen him since." Cherlyn's smile faltered as she thought of J'ren, the way he'd left her, casually, maybe more kindly than most, but still leaving her alone. And she had thought he was different.
"Do you plan to tell him?" she knew it could be hard to go through something like this alone.
"I've been trying to tell him. But whenever I have Lueanth bespeak his dragon he says he's busy. If I could go /between/ I would have gone strait up to him and..." She ringed her hands infront of her, miming his neck. She looked up at Aidiata and grinned. "He's just trying my patience is all."
"Well, I may not be a good substatute, but if you need a friend to be there for you, I could. I've sat in on many births, back at home. No one should ever have to go through it alone."
Cherlyn blinked. People had often offered advice, or even someone to talk to, but this was the first time someone had offered to _be_ there for her when it was time. Cherlyn smiled at her new friend. "Thank you, that would be very nice." Chelryn blinked to shed the tears she was glad to have.
"Good, You can call on me anytime. Just have you dragon bespeak mine." She smiled softly. She loved making friends and she could see that a true friend was what the girl needed. "When is your next visit to the healers?"
"Two sevendays." Cherlyn told her new friend. She had no idea what had happened to J'ren, but she was glad she could call on someone for comfort if she needed it.
"Well if you want me to come sit with you I will. Just have your green bespeak mine and I'll be there." She smiled as she finished her meal. She really liked Cherlyn and was more than happy to be there for her. "I will." Cherlyn grinned at her fellow greenrider and looked back to her book.
