Belamick threw his candidate robe on and raced to catch up to Ioporol. "Trying to beat me to the eggs?" he said excitedly as matched his friends stride. Ioporol pulled his head through his own candidate's robes. His hair as mussed as it possibly could. "Every time buddy. Every time." He was grinning form ear to ear, his emotions had always seemed to be on thin ice during Hatchings.

"Do you think our fathers will be here?" Belamick wondered as they walked. He had seen the dragons bringing guests into the Hatching grounds, but with his father frequenting the smaller cot holds, there was a good chance he might not be at the Healer Hall for pickup. "You can bet mine's not," Honalyse replied as she fell into line between the two boys. "Niether will mine. But my fostermother's come to every Hatching I've Stood at so she should be here." Io looked at down the line to the waiting Sands, and the rocking eggs gaurded by their golden mother.

The line started to move out onto the sands and Belamick took a deep breath. He could feel the excited flutters in his stomach and grinned, "Good luck everyone!" If Honalyse was going to do this, she'd better hurry before it got to their turn. She might not have another chance for a long while... Grabbing Ioporol's hand she pulled him out of line and pushed him up against the cold stone wall. She curled her arms around his neck and pulled him down to her as she stood up on tip-toe, planting a kiss directly on his lips. "Good luck, Ioporol," she whispered as she pulled back and hurried back into line, not wanting to see the reaction on his face but her eyes bright with the excitement of little flutteries in her stomach.

Ioporol just stood there for a minute. His eyes wide open in shock. He never thought Honalyse liked him that much. He didn't even notice the end of the line of Candidates walk past him as his mind continued to wrap itself around what had happened.

Belamick was in shock too, but he continued walking. So much for Io's assurances that they were just friends! Now wasn't the time to think about matters of the heart though, he had to clear his mind and only think good thoughts as he approached the eggs. He wanted his dragon to know how much he loved it and how happy he was to have him for a lifemate, and he couldn't do either if his mind was on Honalyse and Ioporol. Honalyse was having no trouble thinking happy thoughts. In fact, she couldn't get the silly, girlish grin off her face as she could still feel the little tingles where their lips and skin had touched. She tucked her hair behind her ears, her heart light and skipping as she stepped onto the Sands. No matter what happened, this was a sharding good day!

Ioporol slumped down to the ground, the Hatching forgotten as he cupped his head in his hands. He couldn't go out there, not now. If only Honalyse _knew_ what kissed those lips, she wouldn't be so giddy about it then. He was sitting there in self pity, when he heard the increasing hum of the dragons and the cracking of eggs. He scrammbled onto his feet and rushed to the Sands.

He entered the Grounds to see Candidates and Hatchlings all over the Sands. He watched as the wet dragonlings reached out for their lifemates. He had missed it again! With a shout of despair he turned to the wall near him and leaned against it to cry.

He heard a shuffling of small feet on the Sands, expecting either Honalyse or some other snot to come ask whats wrong.

"Go away!" He cried. Putting out his hand to ward off the on commer. His hand bumped something warm, wet and suedelike that was no where near human skin.

}:Why? Don't you want me?:{ The voice asked in his head as he looked up to see a small blue head. He reached out and touched the blue's tiny nose.

"Of course I want you little one. Why wouldn't I?" His tears returned anew, this time in joy. The little blue rubbed his nose into Io's palm.

}:I am Foroth.:{ He said. }:And I'm hungry.:{ Foroth's eyes were beginning to whirl in reds of hunger.

Ioporol -now I'poro- rubbed his eyes once again on his arm, thoughts of Honalyse and Belamick completely lost to helping the little dragon, _his_ little dragon. "Then lets find you some food, Foroth." He patted the dragon on the nose and led him from the Grounds.

Belamick waited on the sands as one egg hatched after the other, first a green, then brown, then another green. He kept telling himself to think loving happy thoughts, that his dragon was there in among those that hadn't hatched yet. He saw a brown head towards him and wondered if that was his, but the small dragonet changed directions and headed away. He saw a green head towards him as well and he stepped out of the way so two girls could approach instead. He caught sight of Ioporol walking away with a little blue, but before he could think much more than excitement for his friend, he saw a flick of movement out of the corner of his eye and turned his attention back to the eggs. There was a bronze that just peeked his head out of his egg and was trying to free his body from the confines of the shell. }: I am coming. I am trying. :{ Belamick heard the annoyed voice in his head. Belamick rushed over to the egg, his grin so big one would worry about it splitting his face, and helped remove the remnents of shell from the bronze's wing. "Let me help you little one." }: I am _not_ little! I am Latarth! :{ the young bronze said assuredly as he brought himself up to full height.

Honalyse was already elbow deep in bloody meat scraps having Impressed the second green to hatch. "How can you eat so much, Tibith?" she asked as the bloody snout threatened to dig into the bucket after the last few bits in the bucket.

}:Because I'm hungry! Isn't there more?:{ the little green cried piteously.

"Wait, wait, I'll find more," Honalyse assured the little green lovingly as she ran to get some more scraps. She was careful not too take too much since Candidates were still streaming out of the cavern. No, not candidates anymore. _Weyrlings_! She looked up just in time to see Ioporol walking out of the cavern with a little blue in tow. Blue? She was a little surprised, but not unpleasantly. Blues caught greens as often as browns and bronzes. Besides, he was too sweet to be a cocky brown or bronzerider. What did it matter what color the dragonet was. They were _weyrlings_ together now!

Turning back towards her little Tibith she nearly tripped over the little green. "Oh, Tibith! You followed me?"

}:Of course! You're mine. I want to always be with you. And I'm still hungry.:{ That proclomation of devotion was so insistant, it brought tears to Honalyse's eyes. She knelt down and wrapped her arms around the neck of the tiny green. "I love you, Tibith. I'll always love you." **And you'll always love me too...**

}:Of course I will always love you. But I'm hungry!:{ "Yes, yes, I know," the girl laughed as she leaned back, wiping tears from her cheeks with the back of her bloody hand. She smiled as she held out another piece of meat for Tibith to take. Honalyse smiled up at the newly Impressed pair of Belamick and a small bronze. "We did it, Belamick. We're all here," she beamed up at him. **It's as it should be.**

"I guess I can't call you Belamick anymore. Did you ever figure it out what you'd call yourself?" Ioporol
-he had to stop thinking that way- I'poro asked. Feeding a chunk of meat to Foroth, the kiss and what happened after completly forgotten in the joy of his blue.

"B'lamick." he replied with a shrug as he held out another piece of warm, raw meat to his ravenous bronze. "It's not very original, but like I said, I liked my name." "I think its perfect. Fits you to a "T"." I'poro couldn't stop grinning at everyone and anyone. He couldn't wait to see his foster mom and show her Foroth. The tiny blue ate his offered meat and then yawned long and large. "I think its time you went to bed Foroth." He told his blue.

}: My belly is full. I will sleep too. :{ Latarth said as he refused the next bite B'lamick tried to offer him. B'lamick gave his lifemate an affectionate scratch on the eyeridges. "Sounds good to me. You can keep Foroth company."

One by one the new weyrlings put their dragonettes to bed and joined their friends and family at the congratulatory feast. In the morning they would have to face the daunting task of carving meat to feed all those empty stomachs. Weyrlinghood would be bloody, messy, exhausting, draining and all together wonderful. But tonight, they had a lot to celebrate.
