Location: Dolphin Hall
Date: month 1, day 6 of Turn 4

Mosler waded into the water and flagged Ednan down when he saw him swimming a ways off. Now was a good time to get to know the young man a bit more, without it feeling like an interview. "Good Day, Ednan."
he said lightly as the apprentice approached.

"Good day, Hallmaster Mosler," Ednan greeted, when he rose from the water.

"No no, don't get out. I'm coming in." When he was about waist deep he ducked under the water and swam towards the young man.

Ednan just shrugged but deep down there were butterfly's fluttering in his belly. What did the hallmaster want of him? He just hoped it wasn't the Turnover thing...

"Any friends about right now?" Mosler asked once he surfaced and looked around. "I heard there were some reds running this morning, they must all still be out with the boats."

"Not just right now," Ednan replied.

Mosler nodded as he tread the calm water. "Care to join me in some laps? I keep a pretty good pace."

"Sure, sir," Ednan replied.

*~*

Twenty minutes later their laps were interrupted by a pair of young males bumping into them asking if they wanted a ride. "Not this time, but thank you." Mosler replied slightly out of breath as he tread the water around him.

Ednan gave the other nose a scratch. "Nice of you to offer," he grinned and sent the dolphin away. "Playful fellows," he remarked.

"One of the many things I love about them. They're always ready to help, and always ready to play... and they are usually one in the same!" Mosler explained.

"I've noticed. You know, I don't think I've ever met a depressed dolphin. Even the injured ones are kind of... not cheery but at least optimistic."

Mosler nodded, "Is that what drew you to that young scamp you've been joined at the flipper to? Kegy was in bad shape when she came in, but you never gave up on her and she's thrived."

"Probably. Or just natural compassion," Ednan shrugged.

Compassion was a great asset in dolphineering... "That compassion could be put to good use as a dolphin healer. Have you thought about what area you'd like to focus on once you walk the tables and take your swim?"

"Yes, healing," Ednan replied with certainty and faint smile on his face.

The Hallmaster smiled, pleased at the man's response. Healing was a hard course of study, and few took it up. "Good to hear, we always need more dolphin healers."

"My brothers are healers or harpers," Ednan shrugged. "Kind of runs in the family."
