"I saw you dancing with your Daddy," Supaka grinned as Selka climbed into her lap. The dolphineer looked up into her husbands newly scrubbed and shaved face, looking a little more tired after the turn they had just taken out on the dance floor.
"She's such good and vigorous dancer," Kessel grinned.
"Just like her mama," his wife said with a promising smile for her husband. "Do you need to sit down for a dance or two?"
"No, but I could use a drink," Kessel replied, "Does little fish want a bubbly? I thought I saw those at the stall over there."
"Uh huh," Selka grunted, making her best fishy face at her father, just beginning for a fishy-kiss. She was reveling in all the private little jokes that made her special with her Daddy.
Kessel enjoyed it too. He only realized how important they were to him when he had been separated from them.
Supaka sighed contentedly, noticing the love in Kessel's eyes as he looked down at their daughter. Shards, it was just so good to be back together again. The way things used to be. The way they _should_ be...
"Do I get fishy-kisses too?"
"Do we give fishy-kisses to mom?" Kessel asked the little girl with consipiratory tone.
The girl scratched her head thoughtfully. "Hmmmm... _Maybe_ we can give Mom fishy-kisses..."
"Well, why don't I get fishy-kisses from you, and regular kisses from Daddy?" Supaka suggested in compramise, looking up at her husband conspiritorially.
"Ok," Selka agreed. She stood up on her mother's lap and gave her a quick 'fishy-kiss'.
"Thank you, baby," the dolphineer grinned. "Now, I see Druza over there. Why don't you go play with her while I give Daddy a few regular kisses..."
"Weren't I supposed to give you the kissess.." Kessel asked and then spent quite a while kissing her.
"I don't mind sharing the responsibilty," Supaka grinned up at her husband, having her to herself at last. "You know, I've asked Druza's mother to watch out for Selka for a few candlemarks this evening. All the boys are off ship and here dancing... We'd have the 'Runner' to ourselves..." She smiled up at him knowingly, a tad eagarly.
"What are we waiting for?"
"I've just been waiting for you, and believe me," she murmured as she leaned into him a bit closer, "I've been growing very impatient."
Kessel discreetly directed her hand towards the front of his pants.
"Me too, touch," he murmured.
Faranth, she had missed him. Grabbing his other hand she began pulling him back through the crowd with a grin bigger than _both_ Pern's moons.
"Come on, Captain. I have a feeling we're not even going to make it to the boat. Let's see if I can't cure you of your sea legs."
"No arguments from this end," Kessel murmured.
Hand and hand, they slipped away from the party and out into the night.
