Supaka had found someone to take every class for her, except Search Patterns and Procedures. That was what brought her knocking on Trellyn's door. "Good morning, Trellyn! I was wondering if I could ask you a big, _big_ favor."
A slow smile spread across Trellyn's face as she welcomed the fellow dolphineer in her room. She was actually going to seek out the woman after lunch to ask for her own favor, but since she was here...
"Really? What kind of favor?"
"Well, you see, my husband is in port, and we haven't seen him in months, and he'll have to go back out to sea soon," Supaka said with a slightly apologetic smile, "and I'd like to take a couple days after Turns End to spend with him and Selka. I was wondering if you could take my Search Pattern class..."
Her smile turned into an exaggerated nose crinkle, not at all excited about more classes. "Your junior or senior apprentice class?" it might not be that bad if Ednan were there to watch...
"Ummm... Both?" she asked with a hopeful bat of her eyes. "One of each, really."
"What days are you wanting me to cover?" She wasn't going to get drug into _two_ classes unless she knew when exactly it was. Search Patterns was a classroom class for the most part, and with her own Senior Apprentice Sailing practicals most of Month 1, she wasn't going to have alot of free time to devote to grading. "The first two days of class?" Supaka asked with some trepidation. She could really use a four-day visit with her husband. Shards, she was just aching to be near him again, and four whole days... It was all right to be a little selfish when you knew you weren't going to see them again for a few months, right?
Trellyn gave a bark of laughter, "Shards girl, I thought you were going to ask for a sevenday or two! Of course, I'll take over for two _days_."
"Shards, I _wish_ I could have a sevenday or two," Supaka sighed. "Kessel has to put back out to sea. Deadlines to meet, you know."
She shook her head in sympathy. "I don't know how you do it. And I can't blame you for taking a couple days off when he's in port, I know _I'd_ be _all over_ my husband, if he was only around a day or two every couple of months!" Supaka fought the slight blush that was creeping up into her face. Its not that she was usually easily embarrassed, but Trellyn had read her mind perfectly. That was exactly what she wanted to be doing those two days. It had been just too sharding long! "Well, I would really appreciate it."
Carry, Trellyn's gold firelizard, decided at that moment to pop in from between squawking in hunger. Trellyn grabbed for the pieces of jerky she kept in her drawer and after popping a few in Carry's mouth and promising more soon, the firelizard went back between with a quick 'or else' chirp. "Sorry about that." Trellyn apologized, "but don't think you're getting away with your days off without a price." she added with a grin. "Oh? And what's that?"
"Mertzen went and cut his leg up doing repairs over at Topaz Sea Hold. He's supposed to stay out of the water until the stitches come out, so we're short a leg for the Turn's Beginning relay race." She chuckled at her little pun, and then grinned at the fellow dolphineer. "We could really use you... if you can pull yourself away from your Captain for an hour or two, that is." "Hmmm, well, I suppose a candlemark or two wouldn't be too high a price to pay for a couple days," Supaka said with amused thoughtfulness. "All right, it's agreed."
Trellyn smiled, "Great! I've got to get to the dining hall and stuff some food in that gold glutton of mine before she pops back in here and starts squawking at me again. Do you and Selka want to join me? She could help feed Carry if she wants." "She'd love that," her friend grinned. "Just let me collect her from the nursery and I will be right there."
