Jenasie stood outside the classroom with her hands on her hips and a slight scowl plastered on her face; **where was the little rat?**. Her brown firelizard, Chino had gone for a wander or more exactly a fly some where. She sighed, as half the Apprentice classes got let out and the hall was soon full of people running for lunch. **He'll miss out** Jenasie realized with a small smile the flit never missed out on food. Normally such a small detail wouldn't have bothered her, but considering she had a Seminar for the most part of the afternoon, she hardly wanted or needed Chino turning up and begging for food. She brushed a strand of hair behind her ear and figured she may as well check the beach, sometimes the little trouble marker went to help with the dolphin spotting.
B'vin and Serenth had just finished their swim when her eyes started to whirl excitedly, }: It's time for the hatching! :{
"We'd better hurry then, we've got to help the candidates get ready." he said as he started to change into some dry clothes.
Orlan followed the journeywoman outside with his class. Unlike the others he had no interest in the flit, his eyes where for the green and her rider down the beach. **If only.**
She caught sight of the dragonrider on the beach and gave a wave, dragonriders where a pretty common occurrence down here, being so close to the Weyr and all. Still Jenasie was a little distracted with her so called problem over Chino.
B'vin hadn't wanted to swim so close to the Dolphin Hall, he preferred his privacy while swimming as the extensive scarring on his side sometimes bothered non-weyrfolk. Serenth had insisted however because she had been hoping for dolphin playmates. He was just finishing attaching the last of the straps to Serenth when the dolphineers arrived.
"Good day greenrider." Orlan greeted politely, his eyes still on the pretty green.
"Good day." He said as he nodded to the dolphineers and tightened the last strap. "Sorry if you came down to see Serenth, but we've got to get going. The Hatching is about to start."
**OH no!** Orlan cast a scared glance toward the journeywoman.
She missed the dolphineer's frightened glance in her direction as Chino decided to turn up and sit on her shoulder as if nothing happened. "You little rat" she murmured, more that ready to give the flit a right old telling off.
B'vin climbed up onto Serenth and silently cursed himself for not wearing his riding gear down. He debated going between back to the Weyr anyways, but his skin was pretty soaked through and it wasn't _that_ long of a flight back. "Everybody get back, Serenth will kick up quite a sandstorm with her wings when we lift off."
"Uh greenrider, I was searched." Orlan said quickly. Jenasie wasn't looking, her attention on her flit.
Her gaze drifted over the beach line again and caught sight of Orlan speaking with the greenrider. A quiet look crossed Jenasie's face **I wonder if it's hard from him...** She glanced away again as one of the other Apprentices called her.
"You were searched?" B'vin repeated, momentarily
confused. **Nothing like cutting it close...** "Well come on," he said finally reaching down to pull the boy up. "I've half a mind to leave you for not coming up before now, but you're dragon might be waiting for you..." He set Orlan down in front of him and Serenth was in the air a moment later.
Orlan was startled to be pulled up in front of the rider but grinned. HE was going to the Weyr. Even in his excitement he couldn't help the startled cry at the greens powerful take off.
~~Orlan, Dragonrider take off ~~ **What?!** Jenasie turned looking to where Orlan had been chatting to the dragonrider. They weren't there so she turned he gaze skywards just to see the green dragon and her party head towards the Weyr. **_Shards!_** the dolphineer let out an exasperated sigh as she realized **I'll have to tell Hallmaster
Mosler** Chino gave a frightened squeal and vanished /between/. She stood there for a moment staring at the space previously occupied by the flit. **I wish I could do that** She thought. **The Hallmaster is _so_ going to have _my_ hide over this** Resigned Jenasie jogged back up the beach towards the Dolphin Hall in search of Hallmaster Mosler.

"HE DID WHAT!!!" Mosler bellowed at Jenasie as he sat straight up in his bed. He was still weak from his heart attack and was healer ordered to bedrest. "AND YOU LET HIM GO!!!"
Despite the Hallmaster being in bed and having to stare up at her, she still felt belittled in his presence, especially now that he was yelling. The really stupid part of her mind had Jenasie want to try and finish the story or explain it so that Hallmaster understood better. Luckily she just stayed quiet, he was beyond annoyed and she wanted out of the firing range as quickly as possible. All she could really do was stand there and nod, like some kind of dysfunctional human being. However the dolphinner's mind was else where strangely enough her first thought was of Orlan, hoping he was going to be ok and even hoping that the apprentice would impress, she resigned not to tell those thoughts to anyone though. She turned on heel quietly, leaving the hallmaster to fume, outside she gave a small sigh. It was unlikely she would be able to avoid Mosler forever, but she was going to try for as long as possible. He'd been right, it was her fault.
As the journeywoman left a healer rushed in telling him to "calm down", and that he "can't get worked up" and that "it's not good for your heart". As she made him drink some fellis laced juice to make him sleep he thought that it shouldn't be _his_ heart she should be worrying about. The Weyrwoman had won and used his son as a pawn. Orlan would stand on the hatching ground sands. He would be left all alone while the others walked off with their new lifemates; and his heart would break... and his father wouldn't even be able to be there to help pick up the pieces.
