Teseada

Teseada

"Worth it, wasn't it?" Teseada grinned at Kamira as the weyrlings went to dinner. "Senior weyrlings now."

Kamira grinned and tossed her short hair. "Of course it has been! I can't believe we're senior weyrlings! Yesterday we Impressed and here we are almost graduated!"

"And that's a scary thought - They might transfer me straight away."

The greenrider gasp. "Teseada! When did they tell you that?" She couldn't believe that her friend hadn't told her this already.

"They haven't said that they will, but it could happen. Something about bloodlines and avoiding inbreeding. Just that one day it might."

"But the weyr won't be the same without you! Does anybody else know?"

"No. Maybe they told me that see what I would do. I don't want to tell anyone yet. We've all got graduation to think about. Besides it might not happen."

"Well I, for one, hope it doesn't!" She nodded earnestly. "We all look up to you already..."

"You shouldn't!" she said slightly shocked. "I'm still the same Teseada I was before."

Kamira smiled. "You'd better be. And you'd better not be transferred for a good, long time." She rolled her eyes. "Here I thought we'd be gossiping about boys and trading stories. You know how to surprise a girl."

"Boys? You got a story to tell there?" asked Teseada curiously.

The greenrider rolled her eyes. "There are always stories to tell. You know how things just *happen* to me. I swear it's not my fault!"

"I wish some of them would happen to me," replied the other girl. "I don't want to, well when she rises I want to have been with someone first."

Kamira was honestly a little shocked. Teseada wasn't a striking girl, but she was a lovely creature none-the-less. Of course, she was a little young yet. "Do you think you're ready for that kind of thing?"

"Probably not," admitted Teseada. "But it's for Onnyth."

"Your dragon wants what you want, Teaseda. If you're not ready for that kind of relationship, you'll only hurt yourself and Onnyth. People in the weyr might make it seem like this is a casual, easy thing, but this isn't a first step you should take lightly."

"I know that too, but I don't want to hurt her by not being, well, ready when she does rise." Teseada wondered when Kamira had suddenly become so wise, that sounded like something the Weyrlingmaster himself would say.

"Well take things slowly. Don't do anything before you're ready - and certainly don't do it because some flyboy dragonrider is pushing you!"
She hadn't had much experience with the men of the weyr, but she knew not all of them were as genteel as they ought to be.

"Maybe I should ask the Weyrlingmaster if he knows of anyone who would be gentle."

The girl did her best not to laugh - this was a sensitive situation.
"You don't need the Weyrlingmaster to find a man! You can a perfectly wonderful one on your own! They're everywhere and all you have to do is say hello!"

"If only I knew how to find a good one though."

Kamira shrugged a shoulder. "You probably already know one. If it comes down to it, you can just ask someone who's experienced and that you're comfortable with and ask him. As for finding new partners, it just takes time and practice to get good at that."

"Thanks for the advice Kamira," said Teseada.

**Is she being sarcastic?** Kamira wasn't entirely sure if Teseada was being serious or not, but she decided to let it go. "Well if you want to learn to flirt and all that, you won't find a better teacher in all the weyr!"

"So how do I start?"

"Slowly! Start by beginning a conversation with a man and then you smile or laugh or - if you're particularly girlish - bat your eveylashes just _slightly_ more than normal. If he smiles, laughs, or gets very nervous
- but doesn't leave - then you know he's interested, too."

"I'll try it," was a thoughtful reply.

"Just take your time - you didn't start out flying as soon as Onnyth hatched so don't expect to master this right away and tumble into bed with someone." Kamira warned.

"I will." Teseada managed a grin. "Maybe it's time I let her help as well."

Kamira smiled. "I'm sure there are more than a few young bronzes willing to flirt with a gold - take advantage."

"She has her favourites already."

"Do _you_?"

"I think that young brownrider in the Weyrleader's wing is cute, the one with the blond hair."

For the life of her, Kamira couldn't narrow down the rider that Teseada was reffering to. "He's not a bad choice... maybe get to know him a little better?" She suggested.

"I might just try that."

Kamira smiled. "Good!" I expect a full report in the next sevenday! She winked.

"You'll get it."
