"All right class, get the gear dried off and packed up, then you can change and get some lunch." Trellyn said as she dismissed her class of apprentices.
"Journywoman?" Orlan barely glanced at the gear he'd been using.
Trellyn smiled at the apprentice, "Yes Orlan, can I help you with something?"
"I was wondering how your little gold is doing?"
She looked over at Carry who had been sleeping on a pile of ropes.
Being spoken about had caught her attention and after stretching, the little gold had flown over to Trellyn's shoulder. "She's doing just fine Orlan, she's about grown." Trellyn squatted down so Orlan could see her face to face.
"Dose she take messages yet?" If he could get a message to the Weyr and the search dragon came for him, then it wouldn't matter what his father said.
Trellyn grinned, "Well, she knows _how_ it's more of a question of if she can find the right person to deliver the message to."
"Oh. I wonder if she'd have trouble finding a dragon?"
"Probably," she said, wondering why the boy was so interested in message delivery, "Why? Do you have a dragonrider friend you want to get a message to?"
"Yeah. She's a searchrider."
She managed to keep a straight face, but inside Trellyn was surprised.
Hallmaster Mosler had informed all of Orlan's teachers about his infatuation with the dragonsriders, and that he had refused him search.
He had also told them that they were to keep Orlan away from the dragonriders and to try and keep him occupied until after the latest Hatching at the Weyr. Trellyn didn't necessarily agree with Mosler's decision to refuse his son search, but he was the Hallmaster so she would not disobey him.
"About the only one she's dependable about finding is a harper from the Harper Hall right now, sorry." She thought her Gold was smart enough to find some of the dragons at the Weyr, but she hadn't had alot of time to teach her many contacts.
Orlan sighed his face falling for a moment. "Maybe she could try?"
"It doesn't really work that way Orlan. I've got to have a good enough image of the recipient in my mind, and I don't know _any_ search dragons. You'll just have to use a good old fashioned letter to reach your friend."
Orlan knew there was no way he could get a letter to the Weyr without his father getting ahold of it first.
"Was there anything else? You're missing your lunch period."
"No maam. Thank you." Orlan picked up his gear and headed inside. He had to find a way to the Weyr. He had too.
