Felorin

In another life, Felorin had loved visiting the Dining Hall at its busiest. It was her time to be seen, _admired_, to tantalize. She had always dressed accordingly, meticulously. And though she would not trade Tiareth for _anything_, weyrlinghood was a rather large cramp on her time, and thus her appearance. Which was why she was intending to float into the crowded space, retrieve food, and vanish with as little interaction as possible, since she was keenly self-conscious about her hastily gathered hair, the stain on her tunic, and the bags under her striking eyes.

When her shoulder bumped another, Casmari’s hands automatically flew up. “Oh, that’s my fault, sorry about that. I thought I could squeeze by. So much for spatial awareness,” the blonde said with a self-deprecating laugh. Her blue eyes traveled down the other girl’s stained tunic and then to the Weyrling shoulderknots. Empathy automatically replaced the look of surprise in Casmari’s eyes. She remembered those exhausting days well.

Exhausted was a good word for Felorin’s state. Which meant that she had absolutely no patience. “Yes, ‘so much for spatial awareness’ indeed,” she snapped. “I’m surprised that you still have a dragon with that lack of it.”

“Ah,” Casmari said with a tilt of her head. She’d seen her father handle her mother in this exact type of situation many times. A lot of bite came with Rasme’s bark. “Yes, it’s good that Sebiath has a better knack for it than I do. How is,”

}:Tiareth,:{ her blue faithfully supplied.

“Tiareth?”

Felorin drew herself up proudly at her dragon’s name. “Perfect in every way,” she replied haughtily. Because Tiareth _was_ perfect. As soon as she could, Felorin was going to hire an artist to draw Tiareth, though she doubted one would ever be able to accurately capture her beauty. “Unlike your…”

Tiareth did not deign to return the same favor for her rider. Simply because Sebiath was below her notice.

“...your dragon,” Felorin fumbled elegantly. “So dull of one that Tiareth won’t even give me their name.”

Casmari arched an amused eyebrow. “That will certainly make things awkward if Sebiath ever catches her when she rises, huh?”

Surprised disgust appeared on Felorin’s face. “Never!” she cried, far louder than she had intended. “Tiareth will fly circles around Sebiath. He won’t stand a chance against the bronzes that will be there.” There was, of course, no guarantee of any of that but the idea of Felorin finding herself in bed with this apparently dimglow woman was appalling. She shuddered, not entirely theatrically.

The dimglow blonde actually laughed. “Blues are very good at catching greens, didn’t you know? Faster and more agile than a brown or bronze. Shells, before you know it, both Aydhara and Cirina will have blues in the air, probably chasing Tiareth as well.”

Another shudder rippled through Felorin. “As if Tiareth would allow them to catch her,” she said, her tone dripping venom. No, her beloved Tiareth would _only_ be caught by bronzes, the best! Why did every bluerider think that they could compete with a standard like that?

}: Because they are all boastful buffoons that lack any weight to their words, :{ Tiareth remarked. }: I will not choose one so beneath me. Ever. :{

Bolstered by her dragon’s resolve, Felorin decided that she had had enough inane small talk with this woman. “Keep your fantasies to yourself,” she told Casmari. “And maybe learn to be more aware of your surroundings so that you aren’t inconveniencing others with your ineptitude.”

Casmari’s lips twitched with more barely suppressed laughter. “Of course, Greenrider Felorin, please don’t let me hold you up any longer.” The bluerider could not _wait_ to tell Aydhara and Ciara about this encounter.

Felorin made a haughtily disgusted sound as she slipped past Casmari. Buffoons, all of them! Ever what had their dragons seen in these women!
