Description: Theyzen comes to inspect Steward Corowal's damaged furniture
Location: Emerald Falls Hold
Date: month 12, day 9 of Turn 3
"Evening, journeyman Theyzen," the steward greeted. "You're here to see my furniture, I hope?"
"Yes sir," the journeyman nodded. "How many pieces did you say there were?"
"Three, a baby's cradle, one high-backed chair and chest," Corowal said.
"All right. Which one is first?"
"Let's get the cradle first," Corowal showed him in and led to a still half-unpacked bedroom. "The rocker's broken, as you can see."
"Ah yes. Looks like the peg snapped here," Theyzen said as he jiggled the cross bar that was meant to brace the two sides of the rocking mechanism. "The wood is scratched up too. Something must have fallen on it and put too much pressure on the peg. I'll have to take it appart.
If the peg was carved into the bar itself it might have to be replaced. If its just a connector I just have to cut out the old one and put a new one in. Either way, it shouldn't be hard to fix."
"Good to hear. Can you hurry it? My wife is getting nearer the birth time and she has a tendency to early births," Corowal asked.
"Of course. I could have it to you within a sevenday. Or do you need it sooner?"
"Sevenday is fine," Corowal smiled.
Theyzen nodded. "When is your wife due? If I may ask."
"Around end of the month 13, still month and half to go."
"Are you hoping for a boy or a girl then?" the woodsmith asked as he checked over the rest of the cradle for any other damage.
"Another daughter would be nice. I already have three sons and my only daughter is getting rather spoiled," Corowal chuckled. "You met her."
"Yes, she's very cute," Theyzen smiled. "I only have the one son. I hope someday we'll have more. There was a chair you said?"
"Here," Corowal took him to another room. "The padding is soaked with seawater and the back rest is loosened."
"And slightly warped, I'm afraid," the woodsmith said, running a finger along the back. "Not _too badly_ I don't think. I might be able to straighten it out. But I can't say with any certainty there isn't mold under the padding. This might take a while, and I might have to replace some of the pieces on this one."
The steward nodded. "The chest took water damage too and there's a dent in back corner. I think it was the storm that they encountered on the way."
"That would throw things around a bit," Theyzen nodded. "I have a feeling the chest and the chair will take a while, but the cradle will be quick to fix."
"We can live without those two until you get them fixed," Corowal said.
"When I bring the cradle back I can give you an estimate on the others."
"Thank you. I really appreciate this," The steward said.
The woodsmith smiled. "I'm just doing my job."
"Well, I'm glad this hold has a woodsmith of your quality, " Corowal said. Compliments never hurt anyone and won him many friends.
