N'vanik

N'vanik

With a sigh, N'vanik sat down in the sand. Loseth was splashing around in the weyrlake, flirting with the greens as usual. His rider was looking forward to a few minutes of relaxation outside of his weyr. It would still be at least a month or two before it was warm enough to enjoy the outdoor lake, but this would do for now. **Maybe we should take a trip to the waterfall later,** he suggested to his dragon.

}:That would be nice,:{ the bronze said, stretching out a wing.

"Hey there."

He tilted his head up. "Well hey there yourself." He smiled at Trae.

Smiling back down at him, she dropped to her knees in front of him. "I was surprised you weren't in your weyr. Loseth wanted to get out to stretch his wings and flirt a bit, did he?" she asked with a grin, nodding towards the strutting bronze.

"I'm not _always_ in my weyr, you know," he teased. "But yeah. He wanted a bath and some show-off time."

A pale brow rose. "You didn't want any show-off time either, then?"

"I was thinking of relaxing this time. I can show off tomorrow."

Grinning, she leaned forward and kissed him. "Spoken like a true bronzerider." Then she settled back against the sand and stared up at the cavern's jagged ceiling. "Have you ever played waterball before?"

He shrugged a shoulder. "Sure. Lots of times."

She glanced at him. "Then you're coming to the games, right?"

He snorted. "What, U'kaiah's little tournament? I suppose I might hang around. Female waterball players certainly aren't hard on the eyes."

Traelyn tried to ignore the tone. "No, I mean _play_...not just watch. I think I might play."

"I'll watch you play then."

"Oh come on..." She propped herself up on an elbow. "I think you'd have more fun being out there than just watching."

"Maybe I would," he said. "But not on U'kaiah's team."

"So that's the only thing that's stopping you, is it?"

"Not the _only_ thing. I'm still not very popular around here, and I don't think most people would be happy to have me on their team." They had to tolerate him in the wing, but not in their recreational time.

"You could try to make the effort, you know, N'vanik. In the long run, what could it really hurt? Shards, it's just a couple games of waterball."

"Exactly. So why bother," he said. "Seems like to much effort for a silly game."

"Then when _is_ it worth the effort, then?" She should have known he'd balk...

"When I have enough incentive."

"And going out to the coves to have a good time isn't enough incentive?"

"It would be if I was _alone_," he smiled as he said it, though.

"I'll be there..."

"Which is enough incentive to watch."

Rolling her eyes, she gave him a small, teasing grin as she settled back down on the ground. "Knowing you, I don't think you'll be able to _just_
watch me...."

N'vanik leaned a little closer to her. "I might steal you away after the game."

"Oh?" Her eyes flickered. "And what exactly are you gonna do with me once you get me stolen away, hmm?"

"I think I'll keep that a surprise." He grinned.

"And your surprises are always so...exciting..." She curled her fingers into his hair.

He reached over and drew her closer for a kiss. "It helps to have the right inspiration."
