Hesbia

Hesbia

Nazoth yawned and stretched. Class was boring, and his rider very much agreed. While M'sar couldn't just leave in the middle of class (the Weyrlingmasters had already scolded him about that), Nazoth had no such restrictions. As he made his way through the desks, he passed by his blue brother.

}:Come, let's play!:{ he told Oriveth.

Oriveth folded his wings against his back as he tilted his head cautiously but curiously at his larger brown brother. }: What did you have in mind? :{ he asked.

}:Follow me,:{ Nazoth said as he headed for the door.

If Nazoth moved with broad strength, Oriveth followed with sleek caution. }: Where are we going? :{ he inquired, having no desire to get into trouble with his rider or anyone else.

}:Outside. It is less boring out there.:{ Nazoth led the way out into the wide corridor and toward the gleam of light at the end.

Oriveth paused. }: But not too far, :{ he said. He did not like to go far from his rider.

}:Why not? We will not get lost in the weyrbowl.:{ Nazoth waddled on, round belly swaying. He stepped out under cloudy skies, which made him grumble a little, but at least it was outside.

}: Yes but, there are lots of things going on in the Weyrbowl, :{ Oriveth pointed out, though he followed, wings tight across his back. He eyed the bustle cautiously. }: What if someone...someone steps on us? :{

Nazoth huffed. }:They would not dare.:{ When they were a few dragonlengths from the entrance, he turned and pounced on his clutchmate.

Oriveth squealed in surprise. }: That is not fair! :{ he cried as he tried to wiggle free of his bigger brother. }: You tricked me. :{

}:It is not a trick. We are playing!:{ Nazoth bit Oriveth's arm, but very gently. He could be rough with some of his clutchmates but understood that others didn't like that. Nazoth rolled off his brother. }:Here, I will let you pounce me now,:{ he said with an air of someone bestowing a gift.

The dark blue dragon slipped a safe distance away from the bigger brown. He shook himself free of dirt and touch. At Nazoth's offer, he crouched down and then leaped, though he did not aim to pin his brother. Instead he landed in a way that let him shove the other hatchling with his head.

Nazoth rumbled in amusement. }:There you go! You should be more bold.:{

}: I am when I need to be, :{ Oriveth replied, }: but not simply because I can be. I don't go looking for trouble. :{

}:No, not trouble. Adventure! Challenge!:{ Nazoth spread his wings and let out a somewhat tinny bugle. }:We will fight Thread one day. We must be strong and courageous.:{

Oriveth had leaped away as Nazoth spread his wings. Eyeing his bigger brother warily, he answered, }: Hesbia and I shall be both. :{ His tone was confident, not haughty like Nazoth's sounded. }: But there is training to be done before then. We have a long way to go. :{

}:We are forever waiting to do more,:{ the brown complained. }:You and your rider will do well, though, I am sure.:{ Nazoth considered another pounce, but then he tilted his head thoughtfully. }:Does your rider think about Before?:{

}: Before? :{ Oriveth echoed. He thought about the question deeply. Before was dark. Before was a place that Hesbia didn't like to go. Before held something that she hated, that scared her. }: No, :{ Oriveth answered, though it wasn't entirely true. He knew that she _thought_ about it but avidly to avoid it. }: But her sister is always helping her so I knew there was a before. :{

}:It is strange that our riders remember a time before we were here,:{ Nazoth said. }:Mine thinks about it sometimes. There were things that were good, like no rules. I would like to do whatever I wanted. But there were also bad things, like starving. That is when there is no food.:{

Oriveth's head snaked back, aghast. }: That sounds awful. I'm glad that is not the situation now. :{ As if on cue, his stomach rumbled. Their riders should be out of class soon. Oriveth swished his tail thoughtfully. }: Speaking of. Perhaps a snack is in order soon. :{

Nazoth considered it briefly. }:More food is always good.:{

}: Let us find our riders. They'll get us a snack. :{
