Aydhara didn't bother trying to get dressed up for a hatching feast. There wasn't really going to be a feast, really, with it being so late. Charcuterie and finger foods that would be good reheated for breakfast. She threw on her pajamas-- loose shorts and a light, sleeveless top, more suited for comfort than aesthetic-- and her boots instead of the nice dress she'd hoped to wear.

}: I don't like that you're leaving, but since it's to talk about me I guess I'll allow it.:{ Rath said through a yawn. He could barely keep his eyes open.

"What a gentleman." Aydhara said. She cupped his chubby cheeks in her hands and kissed his nose. "I'll be here when you wake up. And everyone will know how wonderful and perfect you are. Do you think you can tell them I'm on the way?"

}: For you, yes.:{ Rath said, as if he was making a special exception. Who else he might have allowed was a mystery. Still, Aydhara giggled and kissed his nose again. Finally, _her_ dragon could coordinate with the other dragons!

She left Rath snoring in his wallow and Slate snoring on her pillow. The rain had tapered off enough that she was only slightly damp when she arrived in the dining hall.

“Are you… are you in your pajamas?” It was Casmari’s voice. The bluerider had been waiting in the Dining Cavern for the moment when her girlfriend might show. She was still in her riding leathers since she’d been out on sweeps when the Hatching had begun.

Aydhara hardly recognized the words at first. She nearly leapt into Casmari's arms, squeezing her too tight in her excitement. "Did you see me, Cas? I did it! He's so perfect-" She pulled back after a second, still clearly processing. "I am _comfortable_. I have to go to bed in, like, a candlemark! I'm here to bask in everyone's congratulations and then I'm going to pass out. Ugh, do you think Rath would mind if we made out? I don't think hugging you is enough."

“Look at you, a dragonrider for half an hour and already trying to break the rules.” Casmari teased, but was happy for the hug. She had been immensely excited and proud when Aydhara had been chosen by Rath. “Rath looks perfect -” she stopped abruptly, clearly communicating with Sebiath, which caused her to laugh. “Okay, Rath looks _almost_ perfect, just a hair less perfect than Sebiath.”

"Well, for once, Sebiath is _wrong_." Aydhara said with no real bite. "Sebiath is a handsome young gentleman. Rath is a sweet baby boy. Those are two different kinds of perfect. We'll have to argue about it when he's full grown."

“I bet Cirina is ecstatic, right?” Casmari commented as they went over to the snack table.

"She's…a lot of everything." Aydhara said. She grabbed a small plate and loaded it with snacks. "Overtired, mostly. Dolphin Cove is like ten candlemarks ahead of us, so I think she's been awake for a full day. She was getting delirious when we finally got to the barracks."

Casmari remembered the literal pity party that had been thrown for Cirina the last time she hadn’t impressed. She was glad Aydhara’s friend had finally found her lifemate. “_Two_ blues Impressed to girls this time. You think it’s becoming more common?” she asked as they took their snacks over to a table.

"About time the boy dragons got standards." Aydhara said all too brightly as she slid into the seat next to Casmari, not-so-sneakily pressing her leg against hers. "And hey, it's not just you around here anymore! We went from one to three of us."

“It’s amazing, honestly. Imagine when you and Cirina are cleared to fly. The three of us flying around Pern like some female bluerider squad. We’ll have to invite Kadira, and isn’t there one or two at Dolphin Cove? I can’t keep up anymore.”

"Three at Dragonsfall, just the one at Dolphin Cove." Aydhara said automatically. "You'll be on a dragon-name basis with all of them once I have my own weyr. I wasn't kidding about the bluerider parties."

Casmari smiled. She wasn’t as extroverted as Aydhara, but the thought of getting to know other girls on blue dragons was intriguing. “I should go. You have an early morning coming up.”

Aydhara sighed dramatically. "I suppose." She said. Her expression turned sly seconds before she leaned in quickly and caught Casmari's mouth in a soft, urgent kiss. "There, now I'll be a model weyrling and follow _all_ the rules."
