Sebeth followed Aluneth for a moment, tension and frustration rolling off the bronze. }:What are we hunting? Wherries?:{

}: Bigger, :{ the bronze growled. He could easily leave the blue behind if he powered into his wing strokes. He considered it heavily. He did not like I'serin's injunction against him chasing Galgaith. His rider had never stopped him before. And now he had Sebeth following at his heels while their riders got to enjoy themselves. It was unfair in so many ways.

}:Herdbeast?:{ the blue asked.

}: Yes,: { the bigger dragon growled, with hunger this time. He banked left as they began their search for suitable prey.

}:I could flush one out, and you could catch it,:{ Sebeth suggested.

Aluneth considered this. }: An acceptable strategy. :{ He banked higher to give Sebeth room to move.

The blue swept low until he spotted a small herd and then arrowed straight toward them. The beasts panicked, most stampeding in a cluster, but a few scattered away. Sebeth picked out the largest, thinking Aluneth might appreciate it, and drove the animal farther away from the rest of the herd. When it reached a wider strip of open ground, Sebeth pulled back to clear the way for Aluneth.

With precise savagery, the bronze dropped on the beast, breaking its spine with his weight. He tore into the soft belly hungrily, spilling entrails everywhere. He was not going admit it, yet, but Sebeth had picked an acceptable size prey to devour.

Sebeth landed near him. }:Do you feel better now?:{ He hadn't been hungry before, but watching the bronze eat made him lick his muzzle with anticipation.

Aluneth's response was a possessive growl.

**Share,** came a cutting, quick response from his soon-to-be distracted rider.

The big bronze rumbled unhappily but moved just enough to let Sebeth feed. }: We will hunt again, :{ he told the blue. Because if he was going to have to share his meal, he was going to want another.

The blue waited a moment and then sidled up to Aluneth. Without an ounce of concern, he took a bite of the herdbeast. Afterall, they had hunted it together.

}: Another , :{ Aluneth commanded, though with less intensity, once the herdbeast was mostly picked over.

}:Okay!:{ After finishing one last small bite, Sebeth sprang into the air. It took a few minutes to find another group of animals, and Sebeth was distracted a few times by the pleasant, urgent feelings coming from his rider. But eventually he located more herdbeasts and picked off a likely target. This one ran into a large stand of trees, Sebeth flying low so he didn't loose it, and then suddenly there were wherries everywhere.

Sebeth yelped in surprise and backwinged as the wherries exploded out of the trees in panic.

A flash of bronze and another yelp, this time from a wherry, as Aluneth felled the largest of the flock.

It was not as satisfactory as a herdbeast but it sated one type of lust. And Aluneth shared without prodding from his very distracted rider. At least the humans mating would siphon off some of his other lust. }: K'mai is good for I'serin, :{ Aluneth remarked begrudgingly as he cleaned his muzzle.

}:They are good for each other.:{ Sebeth rolled onto his side, basking in the sun and the pleasure rolling off K'mai.

Aluneth grunted in agreement. He cleaned his claws and then shuffled his wings into a comfortable position. }: I'serin's mind is happier when K'mai is around. :{ A pause and then, }: Usually. :{ Unless there was something that panicked I'serin for some reason. Aluneth did not understand why that was but he loved his rider anyway.

}:K'mai likes making him happy. He feels . . . so much for your rider.:{ Sebeth rumbled thoughtfully. }:It is difficult to hide this from the others.:{

}: It is silly that they do. That I'serin requests it, :{ Aluneth agreed. }: But he is learning, Accepting. :{ Especially since Tirenth's rider had died but Aluneth did not want to speak that oily name. }: It is good that your rider is patient with him. :{

}:He loves him so much, and he wants to protect yours. K'mai is . . . not very patient most of the time,:{ the blue said with fond amusement. }:But I understand that. Why wait, when you can have something now?:{

}: I'serin is too patient. He waits too long for what he should claim, :{ Aluneth noted in an almost caustic assessment of his beloved rider. }: He should have spoken with K'mai Turns ago. Before becoming Weyrleader. :{

}:I think that would have been good, too.:{ Sebeth's inner lids drooped a bit. }:When they are weyrmates, would that make us weyrmates?:{

Aluneth's head reared back in an affronted manner. }: No. :{ Friends, yes. Hunting comrades, yes. Weyrmates? No. He had one mate and it was Chioneth.

Sebeth ducked his head, eyes whirling with worry. }:I did not mean to upset you. I am only trying to understand.:{

It did not soften Aluneth's emotions but the tone was less caustic. }: Understand what? Our riders are mates, we are not. You have your greens. I have Chioneth. :{

}:Of course we are not mates like that. We do not fly each other. But 'mate' can also mean 'friend'.:{ Sebeth pondered the situation. }:I know some blues who share a weyr. Perhaps I will ask them what all this means.:{

Aluneth did not like the idea of permanently sharing a ledge with a blue dragon. }: Do that, :{ he suggested, hoping that Sebeth would forget the whole idea. }: In the meantime, I am going to swim. I wish to be clean. :{

}:I could come with you?:{ Sebeth half-asked, half-suggested.

The bigger dragon suppressed a suffering sigh. Chromatics were so needy. }: Very well, :{ he conceded. He could not demand that Sebeth leave him alone -- I'serin would not like that. He looked over his shoulder as he took off to make sure that Sebeth was following. Hopefully, their riders would be done soon and Aluneth could return to the Weyr and Chioneth.

}:I think you need more friends, Aluneth,:{ Sebeth said cheerfully as he followed the bronze. }:It is a good thing you have me.:{

The wind whisked away Aluneth's grunt of displeasure.
