I'serin let out a long, slow sigh.
He was tired of feeling numb. Hollowed out. Granted, the waves of grief were slowly decreasing in frequency but he was at a point where he now felt burdened with the emotions lingering after his father's death. A world turned grey and he longed for it to be bright again.
He hated how much this was affecting him. What should have been freedom had left him feeling frozen, waiting for a resolution that would never come. He sighed again, then closed his eyes as he rubbed his forehead. This would not do. He had to move forward...somehow.
He knew of at least one way to jumpstart that, even if he would regret it in the morning. **Is K'mai alone tonight?** I'serin asked of Aluneth as he looked over a bottle of hard liquor.
There was a long pause before Sebeth replied to the bronze. }: He will be shortly. :{
Shortly allowed for I'serin to both rethink his plan and supply for it better. He procured a basket of foodstuffs, a bottle of wine to nestle next to the liquor he already had, and willow salic for the inevitable hangover the next day. By the time K'mai was available, I'serin was thoroughly ready to feel a different kind of numb. }: We are coming up, :{ Aluneth warned Sebeth. He was not a fan of his rider's plan but at least he was doing something foolish with K'mai and not alone.
K'mai greeted him with a kiss. "Hey, love. How are you feeling?"
I'serin returned the kiss shyly at first and then forced himself to dig into a second one. "I do not wish to answer that truthfully," he said as he went to unload the supplies on the table. "The intent tonight is to not feel anything aside from alcohol and you," he announced.
The bluerider's eyebrow went up slightly as he followed I'serin, because that clearly meant he wasn't doing okay. But there was a time for talking, and a time for distraction. "Whatever you need." K'mai kissed his cheek. "I'll do my best to help you forget for a while, to lose yourself in something else."
"Tell me about your day," I'serin asked as he poured a hearty drink for himself and half of one for K'mai.
"I was at a party." K'mai lifted his glass. "So I've got a head start on you." He still took a sip anyway. "I had drills this morning, then a sweepride. Stopped by to see Pydema. Her green was injured last Fall, but it looks like she'll make a full recovery."
"Good," I'serin answered after he took a long swig. He tugged K'mai towards the couch to continue their conversation. "Did I interrupt your party?" he inquired, knowing how K'mai would gladly drop anything he was doing in order to spend time with him.
"I don't mind." K'mai sat close to him, one hand free to hold his drink, the other arm sliding around I'serin's waist. "I go to lots of parties. I . . . told them I was leaving to be with you." His arm tightened, trying to reassure his lover. "Everyone knows we're friends, and you've been through a lot. No one's going to think it's strange, and they're going to see Aluneth on the ledge anyway."
There was a momentary ripple of panic in his belly as he thought about how many people would know. How many rumors might spread. I'serin slammed down on it in sudden anger, drowning it with a long drink. He could panic about it another day. "Come here," he said with a soft growl as he leaned in to kiss K'mai.
That growl sent a shiver through K'mai, desire heating low in his body. I'serin tasted of alcohol, and K'mai wondered if he'd started drinking before he arrived. The bluerider slid his fingers into I'serin's hair, wanting him, wanting to help him lose himself in sensation.
In return, I'serin tugged K'mai into his lap in between kisses. His hands slipped to cup K'mai's ass as his mouth drifted down the bluerider's neck, pausing to leave a light bite where it met his shoulder, and then another light nip back at his jaw. He willed the alcohol and his senses to take over faster so that he could escape the miasma in his mind.
K'mai's breathless laugh ended on a moan. "Oh, shards, yes." He squirmed in I'serin's lap, grinding against him.
That got him a strangled, frustrated sound from the bronzerider, who held him in place for a few moments to enjoy the grind. Desire rising, I'serin tugged at K'mai's shirt, then downed the rest of his drink while the bluerider took it off.
K'mai set their drinks aside and enjoyed the feel of I'serin's fingers along his bare skin for a moment. "I love when you take charge, but . . ." He shifted and pushed I'serin down onto the couch. "I think I should be in control, so you don't have to do anything but feel." One hand slid down to gently cup the bronzerider through his trousers.
Another strangled sound, this one needy and breathy as I'serin nodded. "P-Please," he stammered out as his focus shifted to what K'mai's hand was doing.
The bluerider grinned and bent to brush his lips against I'serin's ear. "You've never really been at my mercy." His heart pounded with anticipation as his teeth closed briefly, gently on his lover's earlobe. "But now I'm going to show you."
~*~Fade to black~*~
"The things . . . you do to me," K'mai panted against his neck, still trying to get his breathing under control. One arm curled possessively around I'serin's waist. It was almost funny. He'd meant to drive I'serin wild, but K'mai had nearly come apart himself.
I'serin thought the same but lacked the energy to voice it. He felt happily content. Warm. Relaxed. Like he could stay here for months. Never face the world again. Just him and K'mai. He let out a soft, dreamy sigh.
K'mai didn't like the circumstances that had brought him here, but he did love having I'serin in his bed, both of them sated and drifting toward sleep. "Rest, my love," he murmured.
Safe from the weight of his grief, I'serin sank into a dark, dreamless sleep.
