Z'kylo

At first Z'kylo had no idea where he was.

The room was sweltering. The air thick, churning with satisfaction and sweat and, although he tried, he couldn't ever remember feeling such contentment, such utter fulfilment through their bond like this.

Maybe it was because he was feeling that way, too.

A little sore, multiple muscles strained like they'd been flying Thread in bad weather, but aching in a way that took him _way_ too long to realize. Veth sighed contentedly, }:Just go back to sleep,:{ her rare relaxation utterly intoxicating. Z'kylo's heart began to pound. His eyes were taking too long to obey him, and the longer they took the more he felt _him_ -- curled around her, but pressed against him, their bodies hot, sticky. Naked.

Naked.

Naked. Mortified, Z'kylo wasn't sure what to do now. He lay there a moment, feeling everything radiating through them like the pulse of the river. He had no sweet clue how to proceed from this point; all of Veth's previous flights were so bone-chillingly terrifying he'd panicked before, during, and after, but not here. Not yet. His body seemed to be refusing to break this entanglement of limbs and breath. So he shifted slightly, carefully, glacially onto his back, finally trying to see whose thick black hair brushed his neck, trying to see if they were still asleep and he could just... bolt.

Instead he found a pair of green eyes blinking sleepily back at him. "Hello. I'm H'run. I don't think we've met...?"

"Pleasure." He croaked out, flush intensifying from not only the unintentional double entendre, but the arresting shade of those eyes. "I'm Z'kylo. I... We haven't been at Dolphin Cove very long. A couple sevendays, I think. I'm sorry if I..." Lacking the words for what he was trying to express, lacking the courage to try, Z'kylo sat up. He pushed hair off his damp forehead. "I hope I didn't hurt you, H'run."

"Me? I'm made of sterner stuff than that, pet." The bluerider sat up and stretched, using it as an excuse to study his bedmate. **What does Veth say about her rider?**

There was a pause as Calcifeth conferred with Veth. }:Veth says she's pleased that he's not run away from you:{

Either a recently graduated weyrling or someone with a weyrmate, then. Judging by the very pleasant flush on his pale skin and the way his shoulders curved inward as if he was readying himself for the worst, H'run suspected the latter. "I haven't been at Dolphin Cove very long either. Barely a sevenday. Rather nice for a Weyr, don't you think? I was at Dragonsfall Weyr before this, and this time of year it's all blizzards and frostbite."

The shock of being called 'pet' gave Z'kylo temporary amnesia. Completely forgetting his overwhelm, he looked over his shoulder at the bluerider with something shading dangerously close to perplexed amusement. "Yeah it's... alright here. It's certainly a lot hotter than where I'm from," -- in so many, many ways -- "but Veth's really been enjoying herself." Her deep pleasure rippled through him at that, and he fought to focus on H'run's words, not how close the man and those verdant green eyes were to him. Dragonsfall - it sounded like another planet away. "I'd want to get away from blizzards, too. That sounds awful."

"Oh, they're not so bad. They're honestly a nice excuse for a cuddle by the fire, and while I hate how dry the air is there at least my hair didn't do... this." He ran a hand through his curls and frowned at the frizz. It was his fate to have terrible hair or terrible skin, it seemed.

"I know what you mean. I think I've burned somewhere every day since I got here." Z'kylo's gaze snagged on his shirt at the foot of the bed, and he leaned forward just enough to grab it. "I guess there are worse places to be." He conceded, trying not to think of Dreams End, of the chaos of Veth's other flights still sitting so vividly in his memory. Dragging his shirt over his head and the sunburn on the back of his neck, he asked, "So, uh, why did you pick here, if you don't mind me asking?"

H'run sighed and tried not to think about K'mai. He failed. "It was as far away as I could possibly be. You? Family, friends... weyrmate wanted some sunshine?"

"No." Z'kylo said quickly. "I don't really speak with my... not since I Impressed." They had stopped speaking to him, and the feeling had quickly turned mutual. And he had no desire to speak with the few friends he'd made at Dreams End, either. H'run had a similar vibe, which oddly enough made him feel less alone than the intimacy of the flight had.

"It's just me and Veth. I couldn't stand to be there, and she's happy literally everywhere." He snorted softly and began to carefully survey the room for his pants.

"Dragons do have that enviable ability," H'run settled back onto the bed to give Z'kylo space. "Where did you transfer from?"

Z'kylo tugged his pants up and fastened them with a long, relieved sigh. It was still a little surprising that he hadn't bolted, instead sinking onto the edge of the bed and smoothing his hair down. He was finally starting to feel somewhat calm again. "Dreams End. I actually... got Searched at the same time as my fiancee. Former fiancee. She didn't Impress, and she was pretty upset when I did." He admitted. "I, uh, yeah."

That explained a lot. "That must have been very difficult for you both. Dragons don't take human relationships or ambitions into account when they find their riders, do they. Its very inconsiderate of them."

"No, they don't." The other rider laughed awkwardly. "I don't think mine ever considers what I want."

Veth's mind brushed in again, smooth. relaxed. }:Not true. You like Calcifeth's, don't you?:{

**That is incidental. You didn't plan that.** But... yes, Calcifeth's rider was considerate, and kind, and still distractingly naked. "Listen, thanks for... thanks. Flights haven't gone all that well for me and I was starting to think they never would."

"You know just the right things to say to flatter a man, dont you, pet?" H'run purred. "Thank _you_ as well. It's comforting to know that I'm not the only new dragonrider to the Weyr."

Z'kylo's stomach fell into his boots. He looked back at the bluerider with no small amount of courage before quickly looking away again, confused and hot in the face. He never once thought he knew how to flatter a man. He didn't know _what_ to do with that. "Th... ank you. You seem like a good person to have around. A good friend. Well, uh, I should go and get cleaned up. I hope I'll see you around, H'run."

**Ooops, too far.** It was so hard to remember to behave in a flight room with someone as delightfully handsome as Z'kylo. "I hope so as well. If you are ever in want of company at dinner, please don't hesitate to seek me out. Like I said, I too am a stranger here, and a familiar face would be welcome."

The words were immediately comforting, without pressure or pretence. "You know, I'd like that." Z'kylo admitted, pausing at the door and keeping his eyes firmly on it. "I'll look for you this evening, maybe -- if you're up for it? Get a drink."

"I'll look forward to it," H'run said.

"Alright." The greenrider added, "See you a little later."
