“This…is not good,” Mirsadan said to himself as he watched the water
swirl another finger higher. “Help? Can anyone hear me down here?
Help!”

“I hear you,” a voice called back. “How well can you swim?” There was
a pocket of air still left in the chamber, but only about a head
length.

“Uh…I can try?” Mirsadan answered. “Haven’t really done it lately. No
time like the present, I guess?” he joked weakly. “Do I…follow your
voice? Hello?”

“I can come to you,” the voice called back. “Just keep talking so I
can hear you.” R’enh didn’t want to chance the other voice trying to
swim and failing. Tossing his jacket and boots back toward the slopped
entrance of the cavern, the bronzerider grit his teeth against the
frigid mountain water as he sloshed in.

“Uh, okay, keep talking. So, um, hi, hello, I’m Mirsadan. I’m…I hunt
for the group, I guess. Not an official one or anything. Just a skill
I picked up. I uh…I haven’t been here long. Just a Turn or two. Been
trying to get up to Amber Hills maybe. Somewhere warmer.” His tone
dropped as he stared at the water. “Somewhere definitely warmer,” he
muttered to himself.

R’enh’s teeth chattered. “Warmer, huh? Then don’t go to Amber Hills.”
The bronzerider appeared in front of the stranded hunter. “It’s a
clear path back the way I came. You ready?”

Mirsadan nodded. “R-Ready when you are.”

Hooking an arm around the other man, R’enh began the swim back to safety.

“Got another one for you,” Vaile said as she helped a man limp forward
towards where the healers were setting up. Mostly it was all minor
scrapes and some bruises but some of the lacerations were deep. They’d
have to fly those injuries straight rather than go /between/. “Easy
now,” Vaile encouraged the man as she helped him settle on the ground.

Tavia turned, using the back of her forearm to wipe a wet strand of
hair from her face. “Help me get him under the tent,” the greenrider
said to Vaile. Between the two dragonriders, they were able to get him
out of the rain.

“I’ll get him a dry shirt or something. Might have to wait on pants
with that wound,” Vaile said as she looked at the laceration on the
man’s shin. “You need anything? Klah?”

“Klah? Yes.” The cold and wet left her fingers feeling tingly and
numb. She shook them and then blew warm air over them with her mouth.
“Okay, let me look at that laceration,” she said, rinsing her hands
quickly with redwort before crouching by the wounded man. He hissed in
pain but let her look.

Vaile, in the meanwhile, ducked between the makeshift tents on her
errand. She tucked a blanket and a shirt into the dryness of her
jacket. “Thank Faranth someone thought to make klah and soup,” she
said with a smile at the Weyrfolk who were serving out of little pots.
She took back what she could carry. “How is it looking? I can help
suture if needed.” Vaile was a dragonhealer but sutures were sutures.

Tavia wouldn’t look a giftrunner in the mouth. “If you can start on
one of his legs, I’ll start on the other.”
