O'rosin let out a big sigh of relief when Aeoluth appeared from /between/ over Barrier Lake Weyr. They'd been before, briefly, in Weyrling Classes, but this was the first time he'd attempted it on his own or with a passenger. The air around the Weyr itself was chaotic, to say the least, but for once Aeoluth seemed to know where he was going.

}: Tymborikath is directing the landing. :{ Aeoluth supplied helpfully. The picture of a gold dragon watching keenly from atop the cliffside flashed through O'rosin's mind. Oh. Well, that made more sense. Aeoluth landed almost expertly, unseating neither his rider nor his extra favorite passenger, and even politely knelt to ensure Cirina didn't need to clamber down.

"Can you tell R'lor about how nice a ride this was? Aeoluth is always on his best behavior for you." O'rosin said dryly as he reached a hand to help Cirina down.

“That’s because he’s a very good boy,” Cirina went around to scratch the brown’s eye ridge. “I’m going to send Digger to Aydhara,” she said, “maybe she can show us around.” The little brown obligingly left her shoulder and winged off to… somewhere.

"Can you tell R'lor that, too?" O'rosin asked, though he grinned at the low rumble of pleasure from Aeoluth. "Can Digger usually find her? That wasn't so convincing."

“Hi there!” H’taysh waved, coming over. As much as he wished that he and Selkirth could be flying around and visiting places like all of the dragons who were coming in, this was pretty exciting, too. The whole Weyr was in full celebration mode, and he didn’t mind showing visitors around. In fact, he was pretty proud of the contribution he’d made to constructing the Weyr. So why shouldn’t he show it off? “I’m H’taysh, I’m assigned to guide new people around! Could you use some help?”

"Yes!" O'rosin said eagerly, and grateful that he recognized the weyrling knots on the other man. "I'm O'rosin, I'm in the weyrling class at Dolphin Cove. I've only been above during /betweening/ practice. I don't know where I'm going. And Cirina here is looking for a friend of hers."

“Oh, I can help with that,” H’taysh assured him. “I can show you around. And I don’t know everybody, but I know lots of people, so I can try -- who’s your friend that you’re looking for?” He looked at Cirina.

“Oh, Aydhara. She’s a candidate here. Her mom’s your weyrwoman second? Do you know her? Digger always finds her when I send him with a letter, but sometimes it takes him a few hours… I’m not sure he doesn’t just go find her bunk and nap until she shows up.” She smiled brightly at H’taysh, sure he would know her friend and think only the best.

“_Oh_.” H’taysh felt his stomach drop. He hadn’t thought of Aydhara in a while -- all caught up in weyrling training as he was -- and he certainly hadn’t thought about running into her tonight when he’d been enjoying himself. “Yeah, I know her. I don’t know where she is, though. The other side of the Weyr maybe? That sounds like a good place.” He smiled again, only then realizing that it had faded in the first place. “But I can show you around the celebration! There’s lots to see!”

O'rosin decided against asking what caused the sudden change in expression; it sounded like they'd accidentally stepped onto something. But H'taysh was nice and had a nice smile and only person he knew at Barrier Lake, and he'd rather not be the extra tagalong once Cirina found her friend. "Please, that would be great. We can keep an eye out for Aydhara while you're giving us a tour."

“Sure,” Cirina said, although her expression was more puzzled than her words. “And even if we find her, O’rosin would still love a tour from a friendly face.” H’taysh was handsome enough, she was sure the brownrider would prefer that to Aydhara.

Hopefully they wouldn’t run into Aydhara at all, H’taysh thought, but if they did, maybe Cirina would just go off with her somewhere. He resolved not to think about it again until it actually came up. “Great! Let’s start with the weyrbowl! There’s stuff happening all over, but this is where a lot of the action is right now. Are you hungry or thirsty? We can grab some snacks there if you want.”

"I would!" O'rosin agreed. He was sure Aydhara was nice, but he hadn't been looking forward to third-wheeling with Cirina and her friend. "Uh, maybe not food, but a drink would be nice," He glanced over at Cirina to confirm, "Dolphin Cove is five candlemarks ahead, so it's already pretty late for us."

“Don’t listen to him. I always want snacks. I told you not to eat all your dinner, O’rosin,” Cirina scolded. “Ayd- Er. I heard you’ve been prepping for sevendays. You’ll have to show us the best food. Do you like living at such a new Weyr?”

“Oh yeah!” H’taysh replied, gesturing for them to follow as he led them down towards the lively area where the tents and dancing had been set up. “I mean, I’ve never actually been to any other Weyrs so I guess I can’t compare, but I think we’ve got such nice, modern stuff. And I actually came here as a laborer, so I helped build the place! It’s really exciting to finally be able to show it off to people. What’s Dolphin Cove like?”

"Big." O'rosin answered, "It's a Cove, sorta like here, except the beach goes right out to the ocean. The weyrs are all in this huge cliffside, it's supposed to look like the traditional northern weyrs," he realized, belatedly, that he wasn't doing a good job. "But you'll get a good look once you learn how to /between/. It's neat that you helped build this place, though!"

“And we have dolphins!” Cirina added, “Well, I mean the Dolphin Hall has them, but it’s just a short walk away. Oh, can you show us something you helped build? That’s pretty neat.”

H’taysh perked up -- both at the thought of dolphins, and the opportunity to show off his work. “Sure! Let’s grab our drinks and snacks and then I can show you my favorite part!”
