Description: Kustaava has two happy surprises on a hatching day.
Location: River Bluff Weyr
Date: month 11, day 8 of Turn 3
Kustaava shifted from foot to foot nervously. Her eyes were directed to the eggs. They were rocking. The clutch seemed so pitifully small compared to the one she had seen earlier, had it been only two months ago? It felt like a lifetime. "Oh, start hatching please! I can't wait this waiting is killing me," she muttered and begged the eggs. She was trying not to get her hopes too up. There were only 18 eggs and so many more candidates.
Then it was happening, the moment she had been waiting for. They were hatching. The humming of dragons around them intensified when the first green nose pushed her way out from the shell. Ava forgot the heat of the sands, forgot her nervousness. She was fascinated by the tremendous moment.
The cluster of candidates around the eggs were thinning. Gaps appeared where impression happened and the new rider led his or her dragonet away. Ava's eyes followed the greens. There seemed to be lots of greens in this clutches. "Is there a one for me?" she whispered.
}: Yes :{ a voice answered and a mind touched hers. A wave of hunger assaulted her, hunger like she had never felt before. Her searching gaze met the swirling eyes of a dark green dragonet. The impression was made. Pushing her way thru the still unimpressed candidates, Ava tried to reach her new lifemate who was struggling to control her wobbly legs.
"I'm coming, Mindath!"
}: Hurry, I'm hungry :{
"I know, I know!" Ava finally reached her, and was able to wrap her arms around her. She didn't notice the tears that were running down her cheeks.

Mindath was wolfing down the meat as fast as Ava could hand it to her. "Slow down, you'll choke or at least you'll have a tummy ache!" Ava warned her, laughter in her voice.
}: What's a tummy? And ache? :{
"Tummy is your stomach, where the meat goes and ache is
kind of uncomfortable feeling, not quite pain, but almost," Ava tried to explain.
}: Like hunger? :{
"Yes, very much like hunger."
"Congratulations, sister! I always knew you were special, Ava!" A voice, young man's voice cried.
Ava swirled around. "What?! Lionaste! What are you doing here?" Ava cried and was snatched into a big bear hug. Mindath stopped her eating and watched them with concern.
}: Is he dangerous? Is he threatening you? :{, the little green's voice was tinted with worry and curiousity.
"Dangerous, no, never. This is my favourite big brother," Ava managed to explain.
"Did I scare your dragon?" Lionaste asked and released his sister. He was big man, tall and muscular, with brown eyes, brown hair and beard. Ava found herself staring his beard. Last time she had seen him he hadn't had it.
"A bit. What's this?" Ava replied and asked, giving the beard a tug.
"Auch! It's a beard. Do you like it?" Lionaste asked and stroked his facial hair with obvious pride.
"It makes you look older," Ava answered after a thoughtful pause.
"Well, that's the whole point. When did _you_ grow so tall?"
"Over the last turn or so. Come on, come to greet Mindath!" Ava grapped his hand and pulled him to meet her dragonet. "Mindy, this is my brother Lionaste, Lio this is Mindath."
"A pleasure to meet you, Mindath. My, what a lovely creature you are!" The miner apprentice bowed.
}: What's a brother? :{
** A sibling, someone who has same parents that you have. Like your clutchmates.**
}: I'm still hungry, :{ Mindath butted her rider with her muzzle, leaving a blood stain into the white robe. Her interest in Lio had been shortlived.
"Of course, I'll get to it!" Ava picked up the meat dish again and continued to feed her.
"This is quite funny, you're actually having two discussions in a same time," Lio chuckled.
"Yep. Oh, I'm so happy! But you haven't explained yet how you're here. Aren't you supposed to be at the minecraft hall?"
"Well, it so happens that a friend of mine, another apprentice miner is a weyrbred. His father is a brownrider. Well, he has brother here, and he stood too. When he heard my sister was searched, we started to arrange a trip here. Couldn't make it to the previous hatching you stood for, with such a short notice. But for today, we got the Master of Apprentice's permission to be here and my friend's father came to pick us up from the hall."
"Oh, you don't know how happy I'm that you are here! How long are you going to stay? Did your friend's brother impress?"
"Whoa! Take it easy. We have time to catch up later. I'm here till tomorrow morning or noon, depending on our ride. I think he didn't impress. Why don't you take care of your dragon first? She seems hungry. Then we go to celebrate and I will answer all your questions?" Lio answered her eager questions.
}: He has a point, more food! :{
"Oh, you two!" Ava laughed, filled with happiness.
