Location: Amber Hills Hold
Date: month 3, day 15 of Turn 9
Notes: Mentioned: Nazli
It had been only a few days since Benamil and Nazli had married. They worked very hard at playing loving newlyweds when they were in public, and when they were alone, they worked on their friendship. They talked about different things from their childhoods, and sometimes passed time with card or board games.
Now that all of the extra guests from the Gather had finally left Amber Hills, and things were going back to normal on a day-to-day basis, Benamil finally felt able to slip down to the Vintner Hall and see Arion. The last thing Benamil remembered before leaving the wedding ceremony with Nazli, was locking eyes with Arion from across the room. He'd seen the look of betrayal and hurt on the vintner's face and he knew what that meant.
Benamil had hoped that the conversations they'd had leading up to his marriage with Nazli, would have made Arion more comfortable for what was going to follow. He really wished that Arion hadn't come to the ceremony at all. Since they hadn't been able to speak in the days following, Benamil felt nervous about seeing Arion, not knowing what kind of mood the vintner might be in.
Using the side door from the suite he shared with Nazli, Benamil stepped out into the gardens, the dusky evening settling around him as he slipped down to the stables and saddled his runner for the quick ride down to the Vintner Hall.
By the time he stepped inside the Vintner Hall it was completely dark out, so hopefully no one had noticed and would be wondering why the newlywed Son of Benaroy was out at the Vintner Hall and not at home with his new wife. His footsteps traced the familiar path down the corridors to Arion's quarters, and his knuckles tapped a soft trill on the vintner's door.
Arion's heart sprang into his throat when he heard the knock at the door. He tried not to get his hopes up, however, that it was Benamil. For the last five nights he'd been thinking that the beastcrafter would come and see him, or at least send a message, but it had been five days of silence.
Trembling fingers turned the latch on the door as he pulled it open.
"It's you," there was a mixture of relief and surprise in Arion's voice.
The moment he laid eyes on Arion the uncertainty and nervousness of before fled. Benamil stepped in, forcing Arion to take a step back, and closed the door. In one swift motion Benamil grabbed the thinner man up, mouth descending in a hungry kiss full of longing.
Arion quickly recovered from the unexpected kiss by looping his arms around the taller's man neck, his previously trembling fingers now locked into Benamil's hair.
"It better not be anybody else," Benamil panted when they parted. "I've missed you."
"Not as much as I have missed you," Arion sighed as they settled onto the couch in his living area, legs entangled, Arion half in Benamil's lap. "It's like you fell off the face of the planet."
"I'm sorry, it just took up so much more time than I thought it would, the wedding that is." Benamil explained.
Arion's mouth twisted, "Yes, everywhere I turned people were snickering and talking about your wedding night."
"Hey," he touched his thumb to Arion's bottom lip, "it was nothing, a performance, and nothing more."
Arion's eyes searched Benamil's, "Truly?"
Benamil sighed, "Arriii, we've been through this, I told you it would be from the beginning."
"I know," the blonde pouted, "it's just hard not to be jealous when you're up there promising to be her 'home' and 'arm of protection' in front of everyone. I wanted... I wanted that to be me."
Benamil flipped Arion onto his back, effectively pinning the vintner's smaller form beneath his own on the couch, "Arion, that _is_ you, just because I can't say that in front of the entire Hold doesn't make it less true."
"So what have you and your wife been up to all these evenings then?" Arion asked, liking the security and warmth that Benamil's work toned body brought as it covered his own.
"Well, I've nearly become a master at all forms of board games." Benamil lifted his eyebrows, as if to say 'See? I'm telling you. Nothing is going on.'
An impish twinkle started in Arion's eyes, "So all of those long evenings when you should be deflowering your bride you've been playing board games? I guess that makes you..."
Benamil barked out a little laugh as he felt Arion wrap a leg around his hips, "Incredibly randy?" At the vintner's smile, Benamil captured those silken lips in another hungry kiss. "Like you wouldn't believe. I've had several evenings to think about you and all the things we could be doing."
"Then let's go do them," Arion made as if to get up, but Benamil didn't budge.
"Oh no," Benamil's hand reached between their bodies and unbuttoned the front of Arion's pants, "we're starting right here on the couch..."
